What is the market for Chinese clones? Besides us?

I was thinking about how firearmageddon in the states is basically bringing the market down there to a grinding halt and since once everything is sold out ( which happened about a week ago) will basically freeze up 90% our market since manufactures will probably seriously cut down on new production or maybe some will halt altogether until they see how this new AWB shakes out.

I finally have some cash saved up to start a collection and it hard as hell to find things, I can't even find a 10/22 anywhere, all the big retailers tell say they're sold about but they expect a shipment within a month or so, they seem to have no comprehension of the magnitude of what happening down there with a possible AWB.

I digress, I was thinking that guns who's main market and origin is not the US should not be as affected by this like all our favorite M14 clones. So who is the market for all these M305s? Besides Canada? I mean they haven't been permitted into the states since what the 80's?

The vast majority of countries don't permit civilian firearm ownership and those that do, usually have heavy restriction on military style firearms and calibers (Mexico) or on semi-autos at all (UK and Aus).

I realize that Norinco has many sketchy customers but I would have figured that your average warlord, drug lord, terrorist, and third world government prefers AKs and other cheap Soviet style weapons.

So who besides Canadians buys the Chinese M14's? I was just curious because the Canadian market can't be all that big, and even though they're roughly made by students they would have to be produced at quite a volume to retail for 450 odd bucks.
I'm sure there will be lots of speculation, anybody have any real info?

Wrong. Manufacturers are doing crazy overtime to try and catch up. Cut down or stop production, where did you get that garbage from?

Exactly don't think for one second that the team USA is going to stop producing guns! God, Guns and Guts is what 'America is all about. Or something like that, if you watch Fox news!!!

Bazza confirmed what I had heard about NZ getting many Norc M14's

And regarding the US "grinding to a halt", I would fully expect they are putting on EXTRA shifts to make as much stuff as possible before the deadline (whenever that may be...)

Ruger has to catch up on all of their gun orders. So they are making the guns that they need to market first. Buyer's have ordered more than they can produce.

Gun owners in the US are stocking up. Supply is tight. Not even Brownells can get their orders out on time and that says something right there. Unless you are a manufacturer like us, retail prices in Canada will go up until we here more about the AWB and suppliers catch up. As to your question OP: New Zealand and France are definitely Norinco/Polytech customers. Send an email over to John at Marstar.

Yeah I figured that manufacturers might have to adjust manufacturing slightly to accommodate something similar to the last AWB but after seeing what the ridiculous proposed bill is I'm much more confident that its going absolutely nowhere. However that probably won't slow down the panic buying for a while. So France allows big scary semi-auto's eh, interesting I guess I just figured most of Europe would have draconian gun control. I do know that Czech republic seems pretty cool about guns, but that's probably because they make so many of them.

I have a friend who went to poland awhile back. Over there you are (were) only allowed to own 2 guns, a rifle and handgun, but they could be anything you wanted, full auto, etc.

Last I heard Magpul had started adding enough shifts to make the processing almost 24hrs. Granted that is just for PMAGs, but I imagine firearms manufacturers are running similar shifts. Get as many out there as they can safely make for a higher than normal price before the new laws kick in.

I have a "contact" in Bejing who works for Norinco. He said the only shipping they do for the M305 is to New Zeland and to Canada with the majority of them going to Canada. They use to ship them to the United States years ago but not anymore.

One of their national sports is shooting. Probably why so many Czechs claim champion in almost all categories of shooting sports. Czech Republic also doesn't have gun free zones and they've never had a school shooting. Gun ownership in Czech Republic is pretty cool. There isn't a lot of opposition to gun ownership as well. You need a license but a legitimate reason for owning a gun in Czech Republic is self-defence. Put that on your application here in Canada and you can be guaranteed to be denied.
