Is there a short list of black and green rifles to stay away from?

What i will tell you this MR-1 was the first of 3 i bought and it is just south of 6000 rounds and if i except on dead primer did not have one other single failure, it have to be consider as one of the best NR AR mag compatible rifle out there, peoples like to hate it but this is solid as a roc and the most reliable i ever own, just got my XCR-M and hope to get the same performance out of it, i know the black will and maybe better it on the long run, peoples who shoot one get my drift... JP.

The MR1 has "soldier proofed" itself to the extent that no self-respecting army, LE agency or private contractor would ever use the MR1. :D

"People" hate it because it's fugly as sin, with horrible ergonomics and controls. Do we get into the lack of mounting options and horrible setup for optics? But it accepts AR magazines. ;)

The Mini in question was the first rifle I ever got, I got it because I thought Mini's had a good rep for being reliable, honestly I shot maybe 300 rounds before this happened, it was used, and Ruger replaced it with a brand new rifle, what can I say, I sold it a bought two Swiss Arms rifles, the Black special screwed around and they fixed it with a new upper (it's sold now, I put 5000 rounds through it in a year and took a loss of 300 bux, good deal!), the classic green has never skipped a beat, I will be keeping it forever or until they make carbine's NR

One of my friend have ordered one with it, will have the chance to shoot it next spring, but for me the regular strait stock is what i prefer the 2 i sold one was the collapsible and frankly it decieved me... JP.

Glad you took my joke well, it's all in good fun. Even though it may have been a pain in the a$s at the time I look at the whole SAN experience you had as a good one in the end, they replaced the upper free of charge and got your rifle working. Couldn't ask for better.

Besides that was honestly the first report I've read of a SAN malfunction short of users like Kampfhampster running his service rifle like it's meant to be and making parts expire due to running past spec service life ;).
 
the SAN is fantasic and that mini bolt is a factory defect "there are afew SAN lemons out there too, even some posted on CGNs ;)"

I by no means calling the mini a combat rilfe lol, but it is very reliable and can take a beating

As for the MR-1 well I never owned one so cant comment

Gotta call BS there. AFAIK, NEA has possibly the best customer support and warranty service in Canada. Or at least tied with other good manufacturers. The rest I won't comment on for fear of being called a hater, shill or fanboi. NEA posts always seem to evoke way too much emotion from the lovers & haters.
 
WRT the MR-1, I think they started working a little better when Benelli changed the gas cylinder design. Before that, it was an utter POS Jam-O-Matic. Even with the new gas system, it is quite possibly the WORST rifle for controls and ergonomics ever to be retailed in Canada. I wouldn't shoot one with YOUR trigger finger for fear someone might see me touching that ugly-assed rifle that is trying to be both a tacticool AND Fudd gun at the same time. It fails on both counts.

I guess you can put me in the "hater" camp when it comes to the MR-1.

with regards to NEA's excellent customer service and support your statement is total BS, not even close to being true.

were 100% of their guns put out 100% perfect? nope certainly not, but why would we expect a sub 1000$ gun to be top teir? that being said, the vast majority of their guns, despite being sub 1000$ are well above the level of quality you would expect from such an inexpensive gun. not even close to bottom teir, Not to mention that if you do get an oops, or have any issues, they will make it right.

Easily solved, all of your requirements can be met quite simply - just buy an AK. You might have to move to a free country, but that would solve other problems too.
The part of the world that KevinB lives in is absolutely fantastic, terrific weather, great people, good infrastructure, concealed carry and class 3 weapons allowed - you really couldn't ask for more- oh yes, they even have cheap gas and housing. If you plan to stay here and really have fun with "exotic" rifles, you need to get your restricted PAL.
