.303 split case extractor

Check around for one of the Israeli ones for the 7.62 NATO; it will work fine.

Why do you need one?

Standard Army way to clear a chamber with a ruptured case in it was to feed in a fresh round from the Magazine, using the Bolt of the rifle.

When the shoulder of the fresh round caught on the inside of the jammed casing, you slapped the Bolt backward smartly... and out came your fresh round..... with the stuck casing stuck to IT.

Worked fine.

Failing that, you often can clear your Chamber by running-in a tight-fitting cleaning patch from the Muzzle. It should catch on the flat FRONT of the case-neck and move it out. Might have to try 2 or 3 times, but it has worked for me.

I have also used a Garand ruptured case extractor with the Lee-Enfield: get it up in the neck and expand it, then push it sideways so the Extractor of the LE has a solid grip, smack the Bolt rearwards.

Also works fine.

To get rid of the NECESSITY of using one, use only brass which has been fire-formed in your rifle. Ed's Famous O-Rings work miracles in this department. So do pony-tail ties from the Dollar Store. Keep your loads mild, fire-form and neck-size your brass, keep it trimmed to length and you are DONE with separations.

A wire bore brush of a size to grip the inside of the case works great as well. I don't have a empty case in my hand to check the size but I'd guess a 45 cal bore brush would grip it fine.
 
i find thumping the butt on the ground with the bolt open gets most of em out, i use a 9mm sten extractor i picked up on the EE from stencollector iirc for the rest
 
i've knocked them out before with the cleaning rod and a patch, or pulled them with a live round. This guy does'nt want to come out, I think he likes it in there.
I don't want to scratch up my chamber, so I want the proper tool.

meny a split stocks have come from bumping the stock on the ground its not made to take that kind of force applyed that way and it puts out lttle recoil as is
