Hey guys/gals,

I am looking to get a Taurus Raging Bull in .454 Casull or a Smith & Wesson .44 Mag. I am not sure on the quality of the Taurus vs the Smith & Wesson, which is what I need help with. Also I don't know on the availability of ammunition of the .454 Casull, or the recoil difference. Any information on these would be greatly appreciate it.

Thanks, Outcold

I have the S&W 629 (.44magnum) ......wow !!!, quality is there, extremely acurate gun, fun to shot.
there is also the S&W 460 that you might want to consider, but for me my .44 magnum is just my toy when I want to shot for the try of the recoil, for the normal shooting, I have my .45acp or my 9mm....

I have a Taurus in .357, great if you're just starting out, fairly accurate and i've never had an issue with it. I would recommend it for the casual shooter.
That being said if you want something you're going to use all the time I would go with the S&W.

Just my 2 cents.

I have a 3 smiths (686 PC, 460V and 627 PC), a Taurus Ragin judge (awesome) and a Ruger S/A in .44 mag.

Love them all! Whichever you choose will be a good choice

What about your Desert Eagle ? , I consider to buy one by the summer, is it the Israel or Magnum Research (us)?

Alright that sounds great guys, I am glad to have so many responses from everyone. Thanks a lot. I appreciate the posts and the information.

Personally, I was looking at S&W, Ruger, and Taurus..

I went for the Ruger GP100, and a friend of mine went for the Taurus. The quality and Finish on the Taurus is Excellent. I can't say a thing about the GP100 yet, as it's not in my hands..

I was in the same situation recently and went with the Taurus raging judge magnum and don't regret it for a second. I've shot a few .44 mags and to be honest after about 6 rounds I've had enough. Not very comfortable to shoot. The Taurus is a delight to shoot in comparison even the .454 casull. The size and weight of the gun just sucks up the recoil and the gun is a real conversation piece. Also you have the option to shoot .45 long colt and 410g put of it as well.

Yep. I so want to show up at a skeet range, pull out my Raging Judge, and say "can I play too?"

I really appreciate the input I am getting from you all. How about ammunition availability on the .454 Casull?

if you haven't yet, i would reload for it. for my S&W 500 factory (hornady 350gr FTP) 20 rounds runs 63.99+tax with my current costs for lead comes out to $5 for a box of 20.

using hornady 350 XTP bullets from bass pro it runs $23 for a box of 20. and even if you go so far as to count the brass, then it's $43 for a box of 20.

Sorry but what's that have to do with either .44 mag or .454 casull recoil or availability?
