New rimfire cartridge coming...

Considering the limitations of a RF cartridge the bases have been pretty well covered. The priming system dictates a fairly thin case wall at the most critical area. That thin wall in turn limits the pressure that can be contained. I don't see success if the claims are to be lived up to. There's always wishing especially this time of year !

Looks like the first 20 & 25 grain bullets will be fur splashing V-maxes........should be the 25 grn HP instead.....

I'm guessing ammo prices will be significantly higher than .17HMR even though it probablly doesn't cost much more to produce. If it were the same price why would you even consider the .17HMR unless you already owned one that you needed to feed. I see a lot of .17HMR rifles comming up in the Rimfire EE section soon..

Sure they are both hp's but they they are not created the same.
25 grn Hp is fur friendly V-max is not.

Frankly I'm a little disappointed, ammo will probably be expensive and I wouldn't buy a new gun just for this.

I wonder what the odds of having a blow out with this cartridge is. I was always under the impression that 17HMR and 22MAG was already at the limit of what you could have for a rimfire. They still need a primer/brass base soft enough that the firing pin will crush it consistently, so I wonder if this would be an issue with an even hotter round.

Sounds interesting to me. I especially find the comment from the intro video when he says one of the Savage prototype rifles is a repeater.

I would love a Savage semi-auto in this caliber, especially if it falls into the same price point as other savage rimfires.

However if the price of ammo is much more than the 17hmr does it provided enough price/performance over the more versatile centre fire .223?
