Non-Restricted ACR's

I wonder if 2013 will be the year for Questar to be able to find some stock and sell some Non Restricted Bushmaster ACRs. I'd love to buy one!

Just so I can get a sense of scale for when some of these become available again, what was the price these were offered for?
Not that I expect it to be the same, but i'd like to get a sense for it.
Thanks!

When you say "the importer" I'm guessing you're talking about Gravel... Just so we're clear, we imported our ACR's directly from the U.S. as opposed to working through a Canadian wholesaler. Last Septemeber/October we did offer to purchase some units from Gravel, who promised us and other dealers that they would deliver ACR's by end of last November... we gave them a PO for a quantity of guns... not a single unit was ever delivered. They have never even given an explanation for why the delay.

I am doubtful of their July/August estimate. Regardless, I would expect inventory to be available in the US before any ships to Canada and if that is indeed the case then we'll have product before Gravel receives their shipment. Right now there simply aren't any ACR's in stock at any US Distributors. If FDE/Tan becomes available we'll import them but at the moment we can't get them, regardless of colour.

Odd, I just bought 4 in black from Gravel last week.

If you guys were putting barrels on them that were getting MOA or better i think id be ready to grab one. Is that possible ? ... or too much to ask ? Upon availability of course.

Questar needs to buy the ACR at a reduced cost and then install the nr barrels at a reduced cost, and make money on the whole thing, otherwise it's not a business but a philanthropic foundation. Perhaps currently there are no places to get the wholesale prices they need to have.

May as well kill this thread. I sent Questar an email about these, with a quick reply they said:

"Thank you very much for your inquiry with Questar International.

As of this writing we have no intentions of offering any additional
Bushmaster ACR rifles. They were just to troubles some and problematic."

The only option now is to buy the riffle as Restricted and have a gun smith install a 18.5" barrel and have it reclassified as non-restricted. There are a few threads of people doing this with the gun smith Herron Arms:

The price will be around the $4,000 mark, and a long wait for the finished product and paper work.

Asked the same question yesterday and got the same answer.

So is the troublesome part that they are hard to mechanically switch, or the paperwork to get them non-restricted? Are the converted ones junk? I can see there was issues, but why just quit al together? Just curious, not like them to shy away from something.
