I predict this is going to be the new hotness. Only question is whether the manufacturer (based in Quebec, no doubt) swill be able to keep up with the demand for such a sophisticated mount.

Oh Canadian Forces brass, what Quebecoise garbage will you force our troops to use next?
As a wise man once said: The CF likes to re-invent the wheel, only to end up with an octagon.

It took me like 5 minutes to figure out why on earth you'd want to move the sight all the way out there. Then I clued in that the massive helmet just might get in the way!

This is tragically ridiculuous. I started laughing when I saw the EOtech mount. Dear gods, spare me.

I have no issues with increasing the protection available. Sadly my experience has been that commanders will not use discretion and allow anything but maximum protection worn. Not that big of a deal to me since in a tactical scenario I am basically a mounted troop. I'll just sit in my air conditioned truck, wearing an EOD suit if thats what they want. If I have to go climbing a hill to assault a position my perspective would be entirely different.

Sigh.

TL;DR: Fawk that shyte.

Yep. If you can actually sit through the video, you'll notice that not only is the helmet bulky and obtrusive, it is also composed of 2 shells, which likely makes it heavy.
It is insane how the CF goes for these "Canadianized" solutions in search of a problem.
The C7 Tri-Rail, the C7 abortion of a folding foregrip-thingy to name the first 2 that come to mind.

Everybody else is moving towards more minimalist systems, specifically for helmets the trend being in the direction of lighter, lower profile units like Ops-Core and Crye. Even a heavy duty helmet will not stop rifle rounds or shrapnel from direct blast, so might as well ditch the weight and accept lesser protection.
But no, the CF has to buck the trend and do its own thing.
Anything to appease Quebecers.

Wow..............Never in a million years will I use that.......I'll pay the charges.

Or the brassards on the FPV, or the shoulder pads for that matter. All this money spent on happy horsepoop like this and I still cant simply get modular fighting order.

Seriously, why the heck is it sideways? just use a riser! Can you imagine the lesson plan on how to zero the "new weapon mounts"

"Ok troops, this dial will push your rounds to the right, but because of how its mounted, right is down, and down is now left, have a good day on the range..."

I think im going to go cry while I search for civy jobs.

I was trying to find more pics, but I think it is to accommodate the awesome new chinguard weld required.

Oh, you underestimate. Some french company will get a bucket of bilingual dollars to create a new sight.

wasn't it the vandoos that also brought us the 82 pattern?

The 82 Pattern what? Helmet, webbing, combat shirt, Goretex boots?

I think it is a stretch to blame one regiment in the Army for all the controversial things in the whole ofthe Canadian Forces.

I just don't get it.
The tubbies at HQ are always looking for ways to pinch a few pennies for important things, like, umm, troops, but when it comes to ridiculous garbage like this they'll smash open the piggybank.
Commercial Off the shelf QD, return-to-zero riser (Larue, ADM, etc.): $150?? tops
Engineered from scratch Quebecois franco-sideways-medieval contraption with thumbscrew mount that wiggles loose after a few mags:
$$Lord-only-knows. Good luck even figuring out the true cost after the usual accounting tricks have been employed.
