After shooting my svt-40 I now want to put a muzzle break on my SKS.

Before you spend any money on a brake , tape a can of beans to the muzzle. Be just as effective and about the same weight :) Forget the brake and buy ammo.
But you did say you want it to look cool.your money your gun.......have fun :)
My only experience with Muzzle brakes on any gun convinced me that threading the barrel is THE ONLY way to go. Anything that you bolt on will eventually head downrange like a poormans RPG
 
The screw on ones don't work for crap, my buddy had one that blew down range after 10 rounds. C'mon, man, the recoil is like that from a .22......
 
I put one on my SKS, and tested it both with and without, noticed virtually no difference. It only cost $1o.oo so the cost is not an issue. It looks better, and it doesn't hurt performance. Your call.
