Tried searching for this, but couldn't find anything.
Any thoughts on what meets these criteria?

- most compact/smallest/lightest
- restricted
- semi-automatic
- in production
- 9mm

Thoughts?

There is apparently a compact version of the Beretta 92FS. I've heard that it's an aftermarket modification, not a legit original, but I'm not convinced that's true.

The frame of the compact version is different too. Therefore, not an aftermarket modification.

This one looks pretty legit. I assume it's not prohib.

Seen few others on here, its a Beretta 92D.

Also for small "9mm" there is the Makarov which is a 9mm short aka 380 ACP.

May I reccommend the Taurus 24/7 G2.
4.20" barrel (as short as it gets really), very light (polymer frame), restricted, semi-auto, in production, on canadian shelves, very low price (around 550$ new), extremely reliable. Not a single hickup since i've had it, couple hundred rounds through it. Comes with 3 different grip backstraps (Small medium large), 2 mags. Lots of great reviews online if that does anything for you.

When looking at "small", do not forget thickness, or slimness through the slide as well as the grip section. Weight is not e real factor in my opinion, and I have owned and carried steel, aluninium and polymere. I realise we are not looking at carry options, and think fit in the hand and sight radius are more important for IPSC, IDPA, RSA or whatever legal shooting discipline you want to participate in.

The G26 is SHORT, but does loose some sensibility due to the longer barrel needed to keep it Canadian legal, but still handicapped by a short slide. The Sig 239 (Tactical, with the extended threaded barrel) is Heavier, but slimmer in grip and through the slide, and has a longer slide, giving it about the same or slightly better sight radius as the G26. Being 8 +1, is not bad when compared to the G26 10 +1 (when shooting IPSC). The HK P7 makes a lot of sense for useful slide length meeting Canadian legal, OK mag capacity in single stack models, and slim. The HK pistols are however very expensive, scarse and mags expensive and difficult to find compared to the G26 and Sig 239, but perhaps that was not part of the question. I have fired the G26 quite extensively and love the fit in my very large hand, but would love to fire the Sig 239, so no help there.

The Beretta (any "92", Vektor SP1, Taurus 92, etc.) is very wide / bulky through the slide due to the "wings" on the locking mechanism, and in my mind will never qualify as compact.

nope not prohib and is a factory beretta the grip is about 3/4 "shorter than regular and barrel/slide is 1" shorter its about the same size as my glock 30

and as far as i know the hk p7 series is the smallest non prohib in canada, though i am unsure if tney are still in production?

if the boberg xr9 ever gets up here, it will steal that title by a long shot!

G19 is pretty sweet and the extended barrel isn't nearly as long looking as the G26. Also consider the STI Ranger II in 9mm. It's commander length and very slim. The one that almost meets your criteria except for "still in production" part and probably the most compact would be the HK P7M8.
