AR styles and features

I really like how companies are coming out with new innovative stuff like lime green zombie furniture and hello kitty cadpat... ;) j/k

But for real this time, the issue I have with mono uppers is that you have taken away the best part of an AR; its modularity. Now you have limited your opinions to make your rifle more user friendly. I mean you dont REALLY need most of the boolsheet that goes on a rail but what if they come out with a rail that has sweet 10 and 2 o'clock rails for BUIS or red dots? Or is super light? Your mono upper is stuck.

A good thread was getting going in the group section about AR features.........

What features do you guys like in an AR? Does it need to be ambi?

Do you like the chisled/angled look or the regular forged style?

A few guys had mentioned that they really liked the monolythic uppers.

Another point made was fitting aftermarket parts on the chisled/angled lowers and uppers.

I'm really liking all the new styles and features that are coming down the pipe and looking forward to seeing more a SHOT.

To be totaly honest, anything Blaxsun likes probably would not work in the real world because real world firearms are not safe queens so I guess the answer is anything that Blaxsun dosent like. Thanks.

I don't get it. In my mind the whole ambi bambi thing is over blown. If it makes the rifle cost more, I'm not for it. What difference does it really make? If you're a right handed shooter, who cares about having controls for a lefty? If you're left handed and want to shoot that way, chances are you'd buy something to suit your needs like a Stag Arms AR.

From the competition world, some courses of fire will force you to fire with the weak shoulder.

Also, getting replacement parts for a truly left handed carbine can be a beeyotch.

Because Noveske NSR and KAC URX3 rails are apparently a figment of my imagination (the same with a couple of new lightweight AR15 lowers). Please post pictures of your heavy, lime-green AR15 when you have it. ;)

Good points. Thanks, for the reply.

My new toy is a monolithic design.....

The uppers on some of the Stag ARs are LH but the lowers are all regular RH controls ie mag and bolt release, maybe with a ambi safety. As a lefty shooter, I'd love to get a lower like the AR15.com ones with true ambi controls.

Not in any particular order...but I would say...

1. A good two stage trigger
2. A tight (or matched) upper and lower in 7075
3. A solid butt stock with no wriggle
4. A round free floated forearm with a removable rail system
5. A low profile gas block in steel with a solid clamping design
6. Steel iron sights
7. Properly staked gas key
8. A HPT, MPI bolt that is shot peened
9. A staked castle nut (receiver endplate)
10. A chrome lined chamber/bore barrel that is mpi, hpt
11. A removable trigger guard
12. Threaded for a brake
13. An optic

Good enough for me...

Do you like the chisled/angled look or the regular forged style?

I'll take two of each.

14. A better charging handle

this looks good, and it would be interesting to see some colour.
