Ok I've got a rifle that will be arriving to me hopefully in a week. After talking with the previous owner this upper has me wondering. Now first off the rail is built into the Upper, it's all one piece. Now we know the upper was forged by BAFE. But other than that there is nothing else on the upper except DSA.

Now unless I'm mistaken DSA is for DS Arms no? And last I heard they did not have an export permits for their items....

Sorry I have no pictures at this time.

It's possibly a grey market upper - the lower probably (I'd bet money) won't match the upper. Remember it's not illegal to have a US declared non-exportable part in Canada, it is illegal to export a US non-exportable part to Canada. So you're all good - bet you're the only guy on your block with a DSA upper. Just keep the name of the guy who sold it to you, you know, in case the FBI comes knocking.

Yes the lower is an Olympic Arms SGW.

As for whom I'm getting it from, he's fine since he bought it off these forums himself :p

DSA has a reputation of making/selling very high quality rifles and parts, Olympic made some real shhh - well, lower quality stuff. Kind of like putting a DD upper on a Vulcan or Hesse lower - you can do it, it will work, but it's just odd. That said, a lower is a lower, as long as it's within spec, it doesn't matter much who made it.

Like I said in the other thread, I have never had a problem with Olympic Arms. Yes I will admit they had a problem with QC back in the 80's and 90's and their "Plinker" series of rifles weren't even safe to shoot. But Pre-Ban lowers like that one I'm getting can go for up to $400 USD in the States.

But eventually yes, I'll be probably swapping the lower for something more "cooler". Still going to keep the Olympic Arms barrel though.

Just like the complete BCM upper I've seen being sold here some time ago and a whole bunch of stuff from companies that do not export to Canada, along with the Battlecomp's that were not supposed to be here a year ago, etc, etc, etc...

Grey market parts. Nothing wrong with that, unless you're the one who brought them in... lol

I don't think DSA makes a monolithic upper tho.

Not it! Buying some someone else! :p

I wonder how many other DSA receivers are in the country and I wonder how they got here....

Under the spare tire in the trunk... or somehting like that. I doubt it was an illegal alien with a sombrero.
