Ammo & Reloading Component Shortage Has Begun

Well, I just wanted to confirm that what we all have been hearing is now upon us.
I deal with a major supplier in the US & their shelves are now empty. I've also heard that gun stores in the US have empty shelves too. No guns, ammo or reloading components.
So, I don't expect to be getting much in the way of any supplies in the near future. It's going to be dry for the next year I expect. All the manufacturers won't be able to keep up with demand.
Just like it was a few of years ago.
Just sayin.

One local shop had lots of rifle primers, almost no pistol. Out of Varget too! They also said they were not sure about restock.

When this happened in the winter of 08 09 after the US election I mentioned it at an Ontario shop in about Feb 09. They said oh thats just paranoia, everythings fine. A month later they had no stock and everything they had in for the next year and since was higher priced. I dont think they ever put the primer prices back to where they were the day they said its not true.

As usual Canadian shooters and loaders wont buy in a rush, (except those in the know on forums etc) and a month or so from now when the stores run out of stock and find out from their suppliers there is a delay then a lot of people will be stuck with no ammo or components. Get out and get stuff you need today because it is already drying up here. I bet 223 308 45 brass along with those size bullets primers and popular powder will be the hardest to find for the nex year. Same for ammo most popular and Military cals will be gone and the rare calibres wont be made as often since the assembly lines will probably stay tooled for 308 223 etc longer.

Of course a couple members will come along and show us they are still loading $5 a brick primers and WWII surplus powder but not all of us have been at it that long.

i heard that in the US everything for .223 is Out Of Stock, bullet, brass... Everything.
couple of weeks ago i tried to get a set of die and mold for 7.62X39 and i had trouble.
 
I tried to purchase a Lee starter kit over the christmas holidays online.

All sold out. Every online store I checked. I think Lee is probably hiring more factory workers as we speak! The higher end equipment may not be in stock for much longer either.

Wait a month or so and this stuff will be on the EE asking over retail and getting it..
 
Panic buying every where. I even heard where some gun shops in the US were gouging buyers at almost three times normal price on guns and componants. Before they get any useless ban in place the public is going to be extremely well armed, and sadly, the crazies out there will still kill people, even with the new ban. I fully expect our prices to start jumping due to their shortages, which sucks !
 
I was in Saskatoon Cabela's and Wholesale Sports today and both were starting to show some holes in the reloading components. There were 2 guys infront of me at the til in Cabelas with a shopping cart full of powder and bullets - their bill was just shy of $2K. Wholesale had a lot of ammunition on the selves but they too had lots of holes in their reloading section.
 
The indicator for me is the U.S. Walmarts, when their ammo shelfs are empty there is a problem that will effect Canada. Seen this happen in 2008 when Obama was first elected.
 
Would it be possible to get supplies out of Europe I wonder. S&B, Norma, Lapua and even Russia the Wolf brand is out of there as well as the Barnaul stuff (it might be the same IDK).
