Scored my first yote at this new place we went to today.

Cant really tell but he was kind of a heavy guy

Just west of Lumsden SK. Didnt even have to call this guy.

Was told by a few different people that theres a pack of wolves kicking around there now.

Boomer - I didnt think he could of got a wiff of us. As it was kind of a cross breeze, but you never know. thx

Matt - The first yote was a good 500 out and I wasnt comfortable on taking that shot and plus I didnt want to shoot and spook them for next time. The second yote was coming down a fence line just behind some bushes and he never came out so I didnt get a chance to put the crosshairs on him. Also good to know that they dont drop off the face of the planet when mating. thx

I find they are a little less cautious when it's mating season. Alot of times I will see three of them near each other, usually a male female pair and then a lone male a ways back. Spring coyotes are usually on the move and a little easier to spot. Great read by rral22, I follow alot of the same routine.

Hey thanks for the low down. :) The less cautious the better. haha

I have in years past I use to save all my deer bones and scraps and place them in field near my bush then place chain link fence over it and steak it down. That way they could only pick at it. Morn and evening were best to get em. Shot a fair bit of them

I had thought about the bait thing. I seen a guy on youtube, he would go to the local butcher for scraps and load up a 5 gallon pail then fill with water and freeze it. Once out to the bait spot, he would cut the pail and leave the ice block. This way the coyotes can`t just take and run.

I wish there was someone closer to the SE part of Sask that would buy coyotes. I have shot a pile, but I`m not interested in skinning them. I had one trapper that is a cheap old guy, he wanted them for free.....yeah right, I`ll leave them in the field if I can`t make a dime off them after my fuel costs.

Check out the Hutterites around you. My buddy sells them whole to them by Loreburn. Just an idea they might give you 20-30 whole, I think that is what he was getting.

I seen that ad, its the same ad I seen posted up in a gas station in Whitewood,Sask. If I remember correctly, guy is from the hudson bay area...a little too far and I`m not about to store a bunch of dead coyotes in my yard in the city....lol.

An hour south. I never seen anything around the Sedley area. I`ll have to ask around. So, what did you mean "you are trying", are the Hutterites hard to deal with or what?

No no not at all

Just the guy I know has way too many right now and hes so busy he cant take them, so he gave me his cousins number and I just havent called it yet

Isnt it illegal to waste game like that? un- ethical thats for sure

Some times your only choice ie the fur is bad or in this case no one wants them. It's varmint hunting / population control. But if you want to eat them be my guest ill bring you some.
