there are threads on here about Lever Arms 7.62x39 Non-corrosive actually being corrosive.

Finally had chance to talk to lever arms and they say its dirty ammo not corrosive, apparently they have tested it themselves and dirty ammo does attract moisture just not nearly as bad as corrosive salts in corrosive ammo.

Hey Guys, where do you purchase your 7.63x39 ammo? I don't care if its corrosive or not as I always clean my SKS after shooting it. I have only found one place that carrys it and its Things Military.

Can anyone confirm if the so-called non-corrosive ammo is the same as this stuff Things Military in Calgary is selling?

thingsmilitary.com/ammunition/7.62x39-fmj-non-cor.-1440rds-only-374.95/

OP, I'd recommend that store too in Calgary.

I really wanted to check that store out too. The so called non corrosive(according to their rep its dirty but non corrosive) ammo at lever arms is military surplus so probably the same stuff.

Things military in Calgary good guy helped me out this summer with 7.62 X39 corrosive had to drive in to get it. Was only going to spend 10 mins there, ended up staying 1 hr. I would go back again when I need to stock up.

Your Rifle will rust if you don't clean it. It doesn't matter if the ammo is corrosive, dirty, or otherwise. You guys are getting screwed out of your cash for this Non-corrosive hype.

Get the cheapest ammo delivered to your door, shoot it, clean your gun, and then get more ammunition. Believe it or not, some of the old guys on this site have been shooting corrosive ammo in the same SKS rifles that we've had for over 30 years, and they haven't rusted, fallen apart not had any parts changed out. Why? becuase we usually clrean them after we use them. And the few times that we forgot, they still didn't rust apart.

I totally agree with you. I have been shooting corrosive for last couple of years and clean my rifle every time, I haven't had a problem of rusting ever. It's just little peace of mind with new production ammo that if I don't clean it right after its not that big of a deal.

I generally try to follow the advice of James Wesley Rawles when shooting corrosive ammo:

With any commercial cleaner that claims it "Cleans, Lubricates, and Protects," I do a very quick, superficial cleaning, making sure I add an extra heavy coat of cleaner to the barrel, chamber, gas system, piston, and bolt face. a very light coat WITH A CLEAN PATCH everywhere else.

This shouldn't take more than 20 minutes.

I put the gun away, and at least 2 times more within a weak, repeat the process.

Never had rust problems with any of my guns running corrosive ammo.

I admit though, with my guns that I shoot non-corrosive ammo, I often won't clean them after shooting them and leave them for 3-6 months.
