Any idea how can we - the mere mortals get our grubby little fingers on one of those and at what cost?

There's a company called REAL SWORD that uses the real T97 body to make their Airsoft gun if I'm not mistaken. There are Top Pic rails that mount to the carry handle. Search around a bit and you'll find it. I think they were $35 or so. Worth a look.

I am still looking for a source for the ris hand guard rail system but to no avail. It would be cool to be able to co witness with your irons and have the ability to have a vertical grip

Ya I totally agree on the shipping. The rails are half price however. A bit of digging around revealed that Real Sword is actually a division of Norinco, they are the same chassis as the real T97. That mount is made by RS, thus Airsoft or not, you are buying a Norinco Pic mount. If it's secure I don't see a problem.

^^ Agreed and airsoft or not its made of aluminium on a cnc so i cant really see why the same process and taging the word for firearm instead of airsoft makes any difference ? maybe the tolerance are tighter i dont know.
