removing Blackwater logo from 590a1

I've tried acetone with no luck...(dont think if i went out and bought an actual paint stripper would do any better than acetone, I tried paint thinner too but only because I had some on my chem shelf)

I'm thinking that logo is epoxy paint or ceramic based

any one else got it off without messing with the receiver's parkerized finish?
 
It'll all depend on what it is. If its anything like those baked on finishes... Sandblasting would be the only way and definitely ruin the rest of the finish.
 
Why not just get a 590a1 without the BW logo, a lot of guys out there (several on this site) want the BW logo on there. Why not just sell it and get the exact same model without the logo?
 
The finish on your frame is anodized. And the logo is lazer etched.
By taking acetone to it you can damage the gun bvery badly.
Your not going to get the logo off as it its lazer etched into the finish.
If you do get it off that means you have permanently damaged the finish of your gun.
Being that the gun is made from aluminum the finish is very important.
 
I would get your reciever dura baked or coated

Mossberg always finds ways of making great guns look dumb :(

no, the receiver is parkerized, it is steel, not aluminum...how is acetone going to hurt metal? i can see it etching a gloss annodized finish by stripping the sealing compound off

i got the BW because its only one that seems to be locally available, and i like its sights

i may duracoat this shotty but the BW logo is thick and would still show...i think the BW logo is stupid, i have hockey tape covering it right now...

Lol, okay there Kemosabe, it's steel. Keep saying it enough times and it may turn out to be true.

You're right about acetone not hurting the metal or anodizing. It may affect the plastic bits though.

Even if you duracoat, you'll likely still see the outline of the logo because it's lazer etched. That means the anodizing isn't as thick in that area.

I'm going to be polite and suggest you test your own theory of the steel receiver with a small magnet test. Everybody has fridge magnets.

Get back to us with your findings.

If its steel then you have a 870 :p there is no such thing as a steel receiver 500/590

Acetone is safe and I have used it on aluminum annodizing "oven cleaner is very very BAD"

If you get it sand blasted and then dura coated you will be golden :)

Ive been told i know one or two things about combat shotguns, so maybe im wrong......
Ill buy you steel framed 590 and buy you any mossberg pump shotgun of your likeing .
so let us know :)
