I'm looking for a decent reasonably priced power and projectile match for 308win. I'm willing to buy in bulk and want to be saving some money. Any ideas?

What type of rifle? Hornady .308" 150gr FMJ are great for something like the M14. Sierra 168gr HPBTH match 2200C are better, but cost more. I would look at Win 748 or IMR 4895 powders especially for the M14. Problem now is everything is drying up due to hoarding in USA.

Deal with Higginsons. They sell powder and bullets in bulk. Probably the best deal in powder will be ball powders like BL-C2 or bulk winchester. As for bullets, most likely Hornady 150 FMJ. Be prepared to get what you get, Powders and bullets are being hoarded

It is not what is the cheapest but what works to give you the best accuracey from your rifle. Sierra and Berger 168 BTHP are a good start for bullets. RL15, Varget and IMR4064 are some powders to start with.

See what your friends have for components and borrow some bullets and powder or have them build you some cartridges to try out.

It takes a little bit of trial and error and component/powder buying in the begining of reloading. Good luck.

Higginson's for powder. Never heard a bad thing about them, other than some half hearted complaints about them being 'enablers'.
Bullets? For doing what with? Just whanging away at the range? Hunting? FMJ for the range. 150 or 165 gr bulk bag bullets for cheap hunting ammo.

Cheers

X2 The cheapest bullets are usually not hunting bullets.

Thank you everybody for the responses! I am wanting this for my m14. I also have a remington R5 Milspec bolt for more precision shooting, but I don't mind spending a bit more money. All of the shooting for both is at the range.

168gr HPBT match from Sierra or Hornady will work great in both rifles. Cheap 150gr FMJ for the M14 is just fine, but a waste of powder in a nicer rifle like your Remington since you won't achieve the accuracy it is capable of with bulk FMJ bullets. You will want a powder suitable for the M14 gas system along with bullets in the 147-173gr range so as to get reliable operation and not hurt your operating rod.

It is generally recommended to load between 147-173gr bullets for the M1 Garand or M14 using standard jacketed bullet loads.

A powder in the suitable burn rate range for the action of this type of semi auto gas rifle such as IMR 4895, H4895, AA 2495, BL C2, H335, Win 748, IMR 4064 (and there are others).

Sometimes I crimp for my M14 and Garand sometimes I do not. I feel that it is ok not to crimp if your cases are properly full length sized and trimmed and your firearm is in good working condition. When I do choose to crimp for my M14 or M1 I use a Lee Factory Crimp die for .308 or .30-06 as the case may be. As mentioned above it can be a personal sunject for some.

I would not crimp reloads when making match type ammo for a rilfe like your 5R.

Henry (Budget Shooter Supply) is out in Surrey (Port Kells) and has very good prices on bulk powder, and since you're in Vancouver, you could save shipping charges by picking it up from him. He has H4895 in stock right now. He also has good prices on bullets and primers. Red and yellow banner up there ^^
