I'm in a dilemma with myself, I'd like to get something fun and cool to shoot and in NR. I've narrowed it down to a NR Kriss or a SAF-200 which I can make NR, any opinions as to which is 'better'? I know it's a broad question, but I'm just trying to sway myself in the direction of one or the other.

A NR converted SAF-200 would definitely be interesting, but the costs (unit + gunsmitting work) would put it in the $3,000 range.

I've put 700-800 rounds through my Kriss non-restricted and haven't had a single failure to fire or failure to eject. The thing runs like a dream. The ammo I've used so far is:
Remington UMC, 230 grain, FMJ
Remington Golden Saber, 230 grain, JHP
American Eagle, 230 grain, FMJ
Hornady Zombie-Max, 185 grain, polymer tip hollow point
I've spoken with the guys from Kriss USA at length and they admitted that the gun was probably released too early. Some of the kinks hadn't quite been ironed out when they released them to the market for sale. But the newer guns have been produced without problems that dogged the early models. Charlie Martz, Kriss' chief gunsmith, told me that he likes to run his pretty wet. So if you buy a Kriss, make sure she's got a good lube on'er, use the approved ammunition and don't feed it crappy ammo, and you'll have a ton of fun.

I think that's a fair enough reason.
I wonder if anyone here has converted a SAF-200 to the NR status?
The SAF 200 is restricted and there is no barrel available. So it will be a custom conversion.
The Kriss run like a dream..again BS fly in regard of problems with this gun. If you do not own one and used one, people should stop carrying BS.This is a very reliable gun..never had a malfunction with mine. Go ahead, buy a Kriss, this is cheaper and more viable option than trying to convert a SAF 200..but it is your money, your time and if it can be done..why not ? With the Kriss you will be enjoying it right away..
Forgot about the CT9. I wonder if it's still on track for import and availability in Q2 of this year (April-June).
The barrel lenght is right there @ 470mm / 18.5" so it's ok for the NR status.
It would be insteresting to have the CT9 with a SAF-200 stock; not a huge fan of the stock on the CT9.
Well you could buy a SAF or SAF-200 right now and make it NR yourself, if you don't mind forking out the extra $$.
The CT9 is the next best thing as it will already be NR, on paper at least for me (as I've never used a FAMAE product).
Not likely. FAMAE is still doing their feasibility study, the paperwork hasn't even been started. For the first shipment that arrived in Oct., the paperwork was started the previous December.
Both are really nice...personally ide like a Kriss with both restricted and non restricted barrels. I don't like the look of the big long barrel on it, but its not horrible.

What mags does the SAF take? The kriss uses glock mags doesn't it? So you can have 10 rounders...that's a + for the Kriss.

That's too bad. Time to update your website as I'm sure more than a handful of folks are waiting to get their hands on one!
I will carry the BS. Funny though, its not BS. It was this particular gun's 3rd of 4th outing. Blew the extractor out the ejection port firing nothing but standard 230gr RN factory loads. $hit like this happens, I know, but that was in the summer/early fall, and having to still be waiting for spare parts is insane, Janeau. Good for you if you are having better luck. The gun is cool as hell, just wish spare parts were easily available. Just something to keep in mind.
i found myself in this very same debate last week.. i opted for the kriss (restricted) because of the 10 round easily accessible cheap(er) mags, unique design of the bolt and overall appearance, and no one that i know in town has one hopefully it should be here in the next day or two!
i was in a constant battle deciding which of the SAF's i would go with then i eventually landed on the -200 but the angled foregrip looked too goofy (yet i chose the even more unattractive kriss). the knock down power of a .45 is nice too, and i dont currently own a .45. I have tons of 9mm already which made it difficult too because i reload 9mm (you can start to see the battle i was going through in my head..) but i digress and will let you know what i think of the kriss when it gets here. i think i made the right choice, but is there really a wrong one?
