Mid size .380 or 9mm for my lady help

Pretty tough to find....Im told less than 70 Cheetahs came into the country, and they only made them for a year or so.

Ive seen 1 or 2 come up in the EE but they dont last long.

You can try gunbroker and have it imported!

3 are on Gunbroker right now in 380acp... not sure if these are Prohib or Restricted barrel lengths. One BNIB 84 Cheetah Inox with No Bids and No Reserve! What a beauty.

The 84s are Prohib.

You need to look for the 86 Cheeteah as its restricted version!

Looking for some help here my lady is just finishing up her restricted.
I have a stainless p226 in 40 she dones not like the recoil or the size of the pistol . I also have a prohib 32ppk of which she likes a lot .

So here we are in canada with the problem comfortable for a small lady but legal / restricted only .

Anyone have some thoughts or a similar problem that you have overcome .

Remember light recoil , light weight , accurate .

Help

Other than a .22lr, recoil is a fact of life and no .380 IMHO is going to help in your quest for a light recoiling handgun. Most .380's I have shot are as or more snappy than most 9MM guns I have shot. Felt reoil is a function of caliber and weight of the gun. Evrything being equal a lighter gun will have more felt recoil than a heavier gun. Light 380 guns may in fact have a heavier felt recoil than say a heaver 9mm.

So to your quest. My daughter in law tried several of my 9MM guns ansd settled on a M&P Julie Golob version. She liked the small grip panel and with a little instruction and practice over came the recoil of a 9MM anf has become a pretty fair shot. She also liked the pink grips, a fact that settled the deal for her.

Your lady is ging to have to try out several guns and decide what she likes. Maybe she won't enjoy shooting a center fire gun and will be more comfortable with a .22lf like the Browning Buckmark or Ruger pistol. I doubt she will be happy with a .380 pocket pistol witha barrel>105mm. We can't carry up here making moist 380's no more than expensive range plinkers shooting ammo that is not always readiy available and generally more expensive than 9MM. The ones I have shot had less than stellar triggers, generally poor sights and were snappy due to their size and weight.

Take Care

Bob

I suggested a revolver in 38 Special or a 1911 in 9mm as having minimal recoil. These are larger, heavy guns but the weight/felt recoil is a balancing act.

Well, since we can't carry in Canada and barrel length must be over 105mm (~4.15" Sorry, Old Outlaw, that's the way it is up here!), concealability isn't an issue. .380 is going to be relatively difficult to feed unless you reload. Light weight and light recoil can be mutually exclusive, but some of the polymer pistols handle recoil nicely. What about something like a Ruger SR9? Mine is an earlier model before they improved the trigger but I'm told the new ones have better triggers. (I got a Ghost trigger upgrade but haven't got around to installing it yet.) The S&W M&P pistols seem to be very popular as well. The BHP is a classic but they're relatively expensive, heavier and have fairly heavy springs to overcome when retracting the slide. And the triggers aren't all that great.
