I put up the post the other day about a pistol for my lady . I believe the direction is going to be a 1911 mid frame . So hopefully one of you guys can guild me to a mid size frame 1911 that is in Canada and avilible now for in or around 500 in 9 mm

Cheers and thanks

First, real 1911 frames are only one size, you can get an Officers size frame that is shorter in the grip and dust shroud , but the dimensions around the grip are all the same. You can buy thin grips and short triggers to alleviate that, however. Closest thing I know of to a "medium" sized 1911 style pistol is a Star BM or its lightweight brother . They are slightly smaller in most dimensions then the 1911 clan. Some of the manufacturers do make smaller 22's in this style, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a nine based on that size soon, but I haven't come across one yet. - dan

doesn't sound like you know what you are talking about (mid sized 1911?) - save the money and actually visit a store with the primary user so she can handle and decide for herself...

if it turns out she doesn't like it, at least you can try other platforms while there.

Sorry, as already mentioned there are only 2 real 1911 frames.....gov and commander share the same size, officers is shorter in the grip area. There is no mid size frame. The pro carry is just a commander size 1911.
Do you mean the slide/barrel length being mid size? That would make more sense...

Ok now that we know there are mid size 1911
Can we get on with it a 500 dollar midsize 1911 in 9 mm

SAM Commander in 9mm is $530 at Wolverine.....but I'm still not sure if that's what you are talking about.

Norinco is the cheapest option for budget 1911 like 9mm pistols, however they are fullsize only. Any other brand is typically north of $500 if you can in fact get a mid frame option. You can pic up norc m213s for under 200 on the EE. If you look at them kinda cross eyed they can look 1911ish and they have a real tiny frame for smaller hands.

Yea I have a ttc on its way from Kelly's and a new strike one conning in feb .
But I held a Kimberly pro carry in 45 the other day and its much smaller than my sig or a full size 1911
It's looks like a 22 lr 1911 size just a little bigger .
But don't want to spend 1500 on the kimber .
I'm kind of running into a rd block . Looking for a single stack 9mm
That is small enough for a 5 ft 2 petite women .
If I was in the states no problem . Here it bul /()$&

Cheers and thanks for all your help

Springfield did make a 1911 built around the 9mm length rounds many years ago IIRC.
The grip size F to B will be the same regardless of caliber chosen.
But hey I just shoot the things in 4 different calibers;-)

I've been on a similar search for my wife. On most 1911's the only way you'll get "narrower" is to buy thin grips in place of stock. The frame is the frame. However, there are some out there like the LadyHawk Nighthawk where some depth has been removed from the mainspring housing as well, but at about 100 times the price you have in your budget. These an STI Trojan with thin grips available, if she wants to go try it out for feel. Otherwise consider something like a CZ or maybe even a Smith and Wesson M&P or a Walther PPQ or a Sig 226. 9mm in a 1911 are not common, but they exist. They don't exist new for $500 with maybe the exception of a Norinco. Good luck.
