Quality of Norinco 223 brass?

Good for 2 resizings? 3?,1?. In the olden days when I shot IPSC I had some norinco 45acp, good only for 1 reload before neck split, and thats 780fps or so with 230 ball loads. I used it as reload once brass, then scrap it.

I've reloaded Norinco 223, it behaved the same as any other brass. I had some that I reloaded 7 times, it showed no abnormal wear, I still have it, never shot the last batch of rounds I made with it for some reason. This was in a bolt action tho'. I anneal and neck size, so I tend to get a fair amount of mileage out of my brass.
I think depending on how hot your loads are, and how brass friendly your gun in, it should work as well as any other brass.

Yes, the primer pockets were crimped on my samples.

I would think that if the necks of any brass is splitting on the first reloading it should be annealed. I have seen Imperial and Rem brass do that. Haven`t reloaded any Norinco but have some kicking around to try.

I have reloaded the stuff ever since it really started showing up in the 90's and it is still going strong. Good brass. Better than a lot of North American stuff.

Bought black Friday special. Primers not crimped on my samples. I've only checked one crate so I hope all are the same.

I'm new to reloading but brass seems excellent to me, there not polished but that's correct military spec.

Maybe important to note. Ammo is in wooden crates(80 boxes of 20 -not protected against weather ) as opposed to sealed cans.

Conte, was your ammo in sealed spam cans? Are the crimped primers much more difficult to remove?

I had some about 7 years ago, found it only lasted 3-4 reloadings. That's good to hear the newer stuff has improved.

I guess i`ll find out as i just got in a case to split with a buddy, 800 rounds each. Will have to spread out a tarp to catch the brass with all the snow about.
