Fixing sights on 100th anniversary Colt 1911

Please remove, Fixed.

Looking for some help on how to fix the sights on my 100th anniversary colt 1911. At 17 yrds it shoots a foot and a half low. Grouping is fine. I bought this gun to get a feel for the 1911 frame in a 45. I probably won't shoot it much anymore but it would be nice if it was somewhat accurate when I did.
Any suggestions?

Are you shooting off a rest? Without changing the original parts out, you can try different ammo brands as some tends to be hotter than others as well as trying different bullet weights .
 
You could always add target sights to it like someone did to this gun made in 1917:bangHead:

Seriously though I think you should take it out again..I just got a new 1911 and at first it was shooting low but by the end of the day it was right on...maybe it takes some getting used to a new gun.

I have to agree with TDC, I would be very surprised if it was the gun. You should let someone else shoot your gun or shoot from a rest.

I'll give the rest a try ASAP. Also will try some different ammo. My shadow shot so well out of the box I took for granted the colt would do the same.

In addition to the above, shoot it some more but don't scrub the barrel after firing (if you are). Some guns shoot better when they are dirty.
