Bingo. People want aluminum lowers, but what's the sales potential? 100 lowers? Ok, so now I need to make uppers to push sales. Well why don't I just make a complete gun? Now the project has ballooned in size and investment. I poor money and time into it, I build my new design with all the features everyone wants. Despite all my efforts, the RCMP arbitrarily deems it prohibited as a variant of the AR18. Now I'm broke.
There is more involved in this than simply building lowers. I'm always hesitant as this industry has screwed me before.
Are you saying that the RCMP have already classified it as prohibited or are you theorizing a potential outcome of evaluation? FWIW, why don't you just clone a 180B lower and submit it. Considering the lower "IS" the firearm, there'd be no need to produce a full rifle, would there? A one-off sample wouldn't be hard to produce with your experience would it?
Maybe NEA could produce the uppers for everyone? A joint venture - if you will...

Bought one new still have the 3rd one
Had to send 2 back that cracked within 300 rnds .
Third one made it past 500 rnd so I kept it
How did they crack? Just from shooting it? Mine doesn't look like it could crack unless you break it open with extreme prejudice. lol
I got one of the new ones with the M4 feed ramps. I was one of the guys who paid the recently inflated prices but I don't regret it. I want an ACR but to me $2600 compared to $1800 is a big difference plus mine came with the top rail and a scope that I can sell. Interesting scope. Illuminated 6-24 x 50mm and is called Jager. Was ordered by original owner from Germany but probably a knock off. Clear glass though and the illumination works nice in red and green. Rifle is mint! Super low round count by the looks of it.

They cracked at the front pivot . Not from opening & closing .
Both of mine cracked first time out within 2 to 3 hundred rounds .
I was told Armalite had a bad batch of lowers & the third replacement rifle seems to be OK (so far) 5 or 6 hundred rounds fired.
but for the last 6 yrs it's been collecting dust wile I use my AR15's .
& NO IT'S NOT FOR SALE

The 180b is a $600-$700 rifle. A few years ago that's what I paid for one new.
I get a kick out of the EE ads where guys are askng $1500-$1800 for 'em.. Oh yeah, they've tricked 'em out with rails and after market butt stocks, but bottom line is... You can't polish a turd. Well I guess you "can", but...
It's still a AR180b... It's nothing near an AR15.

There was two reasons they would crack. One was from user error, letting the upper hinge upon under unrestrained. The second, more common, reason was a single batch of bad polymer lowers. I'm not sure how many were made but any that broke were replaced no questions acted.

No dealers were selling new ones for 6 to 7 hundred .
They sold for $1000.+. If you bought a "as new" used one for $700 you got a good deal .
Would I pay $1500 to $1800 for a used one . Hell No !
If I was to sell mine would I price it @ $1500 to $1800 . Hell Yes !
Why ? Because that's what people are willing to pay for them.
No question the AR15 is a stronger rifle but it's restricted !
If the AR180B went restricted they would be selling for $400. in the EE not $1800
Owned 2 in my life and I think I sold them both in the EE at the time for around $1K (having paid slightly more than that). Sad.
As mentioned earlier they were an excellent deal before, but now? No way would I pay $1800+ for a used one... definitely look at the XCR; damn this Restricted-AR15-Crap

The ONLY thing it had going for it here in Canada is that its NR.
Plastics and sheet metal stamping... The welding on mine came apart after 40-50 rounds (the welds that held the bolt carrier rail)
'Not accurate at all...
Just my opinion... 'Wouldn't buy one if it where $500. Lots of better guns out there for the same $

Well unless you smuggled it into Canada it cost you more that $700 Yikes I should have research the AR180B a bit more before I bought it. You guys are scaring me. lol I saw Armalite and non-restricted and figured no-brainer. Well maybe I will go back to my original idea about buying the ACR? Anybody want a JR Carbine and AR180B for their ACR???? Please???? lol

When did you do this?? I understand export fees are more now.. I believe it is around 200$ now.
I have been trying to locate an ar-180b in the US for 2 months now, from lack of communication (with US gun sell holding ar-180b) to restricted barrel lengths, I have been unsuccessful.
I saw the one you bought for 1800$.
I told myself I wouldnt spend more than 1500$ on one! if I can find one in the US for 800$, then pay Jason at irunguns 200$+ whatever to import it, it'd be a done deal.
THE AR-180B is DEFINITELY MY NEXT GUN!!!! or maybe an antique revolver like a webley?? (I have my PAL and I really want a revolver, I owned a 8mm french 1892 revolver that was bad ass)

Having bought yours used you can pretty well bet that if it was going to crack by shooting it would have by now
. Now just be careful and don't allow that upper to flop around when open, treat it right and it should last .

I have to disagree. They were decent rifles, mine was acceptably accurate and I had absolutely no issues with it. This is what you will likely hear from most owners. That said, $1800 is a bit much for a used one, even with extras (top rail, stock adapter, etc).
At $900 I think they would be a good deal given our market, and push that up to $1200 with an aluminum lower and updated features (integral top rail, bolt release, etc).
