Smooth bore .22's

Wow. A ton of info and ideas. Great to be a Gunnutz. A .410 is a no go for me, since it will be for indoor shooting. Mmmm. Maybe the marlin microgroove rifling would be less disruptive than regular rifling. What do you guys think? I just saw a video on youtube that compares a rifled barrel vs smoothbore and the smoothbore shoots about 35% more shots in a paper plate at 20 feet.

That was my experience with gophers even from a very short distance; they just looked a little startled and ran away. The grass around them moved a little however. Hopeless.
 
Well ,i'm not one of those, who is ready to pay twice the value of a rifle just to get it. It's because of those, that we pay to much for firearms. Just as an exemple 500 bucks+shipping for a CZ 452 scout on the EE is crazy. Sorry.

Who said twice as much? You also wouldn't get it for $100.00 if you are thinking that. What I'm saying is you wouldn't be getting it for nothing. You would be getting it for what examples of this model/make in excellent condition have sold for on the net. You also cannot walk into a store and find one on the shelf since they haven't been made since 1962. But it's okay, I will keep it for now.
 
No i'm not saying that you were going to ask twice the value, the expression "twice" was the only one i thougt of. And yes i'm always ready to pay for what it's worth when i want one. Of course it's always fun when you find a real bargain. Sorry to have let my frustration about crazy prices that seems to be asked more and more been directed towards you. It was not intentional. I actually did some research and found about an Anschutz "ZEPHYR". Said to be a claybirder. Think i'm gonna start looking for one those. Sorry again for the misunderstanding.

No problem. That is one problem with the internet. One can read the words but without hearing them in person you have no way of knowing how something was supposed to be said or taken as. I guess the net lacks "verbal expression".
 
Exactely. Especially for a franco trying to express himself in his second language like me. BTW it would be nice to see pics of your smoothbores.

Caution....gunsaholic guns are fantastic examples of their kind! Viewing of such images will tempt a fella.

...In the "real world" I've actually gotten one of my nicest Cooeys from gunsaholic, who rated it as one of his poorest examples. The deal was more than fair. He won't give away a Mona Lisa...no one would. He also won't pass off a forgery either.
 
Here are a couple of pics. The rabbit is by no means pristine. However, this is the only Cooey smooth bore I have come across so a fellow has to settle for what he can find. In one way it shows a lot of character and I can only imagine the fun some youngsters had growing up with it.
The Remington Target Master is almost like new.

Made just a couple of short hours away from me...N'er seen a smoothbore yet, but always on my toes for cool 'irons.

I'm guessing EE n' shows. Savage bought out Lakefield a couple of decades ago. Savage still makes a MkI, but I haven't seen a smoothbore

dont say no too a .410 i have used them in barns with #12 shot in light loads (5/16 oz to 3/8oz) and ive also seen a old timer cut the top off a shell dump the shot and fill the wad with sand it worked at close range and did not harm anything inside

Hmmm. Interesting. Are those light loads as quiet as a .22?

Ive seen two Lakefield Mk.1 smoothbores come up on the epps site over the years. Wish I had bought one. They were both under 100 bucks.
