I was recently in contact with an enfield that had never been registered was bought at an estate sale and had no pin in the mag... My question is: What should the owner do? Buy a mag with a pin or have one installed? and last is it legal?

it's a bolt action rifle, the mag doesn't have to be pined

Yup. Doesn't have to be pinned because it is a bolt action. To clarify it even more, the Liberals specifically added a line to Bill C-68 that specifically said Enfield mags can be ten rounds legally.

And how do you know it wasn't registered? I mean, the data is gone right? It coulda been. Maybe. Can't prove it either way haha.

why wouldn't it be legal? was it stolen?
not being registered and having a 10 round mag...... sounds like everything is in order and perfectly legal
clean it and go enjoy it ;)
no phonecall to cfc required

Perfectly legal the way she is, friend.

Now, would you care to post a couple photos so we can see what has been done to the old girl?

Might give us a better handle on precisely what she is, too. I was at a gun show a few years ago, fellow with a Number 4 came up to me and asked if he had overpaid for the rifle. Well, he had bought it at the upper end of the scale for ANY decent Number 4...... but this one was a 1931 Trials Rifle, all matching and in very very very nice condition. I very nearly required a laundry, right on the spot: I hadn't known there were any Trials rifles in Canada in THAT kind of condition. The dealer (a personal friend) had UNDERSOLD himself by about DOUBLE what he had charged!

And these things still happen from time to time......

So let us have a look at her. The wost we can do is drool.

And don't worry about the Mag. It's legal.

Well here it is. Nothing special, just a decent sporterized typical enfield.
