were they all converted from 577-450?
I picked up a No. 4 bbl'd one for 350 with a couple box's of reloads and dies thrown in.
Works great but the condition of the wood is so dismal it hurts your eye's to look at it.
Shoots great though, it's the ultimate truck gun. I load to lighter with a fast powder to get a good clean burn and not a massive fireball from the muzzle.

Why would it be "iffy"?
Fitting a Lee Enfield barrel is an easy way of making a shooter from a ME/MM that has a ruined barrel.
It is helpful that the Brits standardized on 1-14 threads early on.
