The All New 557 from Ceska Zbrojovka

Wow. A company famous for their CRF rifles and they come out with this? The only thing they "upgraded" with this action is their profit margins I expect.

I'll stick to my 600, 601, and 550 Magnum.

I am curious where the gas goes in the event of a failed case? Looks like the extractor and it's cut in the bolt face is a paved highway to somewhere.

Ted

Judging by the bolt lugs being moved rearward, I'd guess it has Remington style breeching, which would be okay as long as it fits close enough to contain the extractor.

What I'd like to know is how you get at the 550 style bolt stop. It looks like they snipped off the button to accommodate a full bolt shroud (which gives better gas containment)

And nothing says 'old world craftsmanship' like a bolt handle on a big game hunting rifle retained by a 1/16" roll pin.

I bet they shoot though.

yes yes!!

This new one is very much the ###y times!!!

va-va va whooeey!

Apparently these won't be available state side before 2014. Can we expect them in Canada before then you think?

Why would you even wait for them? What is the appeal?

This is tikka bolt, minus detachable magazine, plus fully open action on top. If you really want 20 inch barrel and fiber irons bush short rifle - this is what you can get now http://www.tikka.fi/t3models.php?battue

If its just looks and wood, can't you get custom wood stock on practically any action?

Unless they gonna sell at $600 range I see absolutely no point of 557 over 550. Right now CZ are at least different. With 557 they are just same cheaper action with way less stock, mag, accessories options. If they think they will sell this at $1k and up retail, they won't, not with these "innovations". If they plan to sell this way below $1k retail it is unwise to abandon the only advantage of CRF and plunge into the crowd of wallmart packaged guns. Making profit on low end is only possible with big volumes and mmm no import costs maybe?
