New Armalite AR180 - in the planning

The gentleman I was taking to was very interested in why it was so popular in Canada, and so I explained the whole NR thing to him (as much as you can ever explain our gun laws).

Not specifically for the 180-B, but for any gun:
When I am talking to the US vendors, I like to point out that Canada is about the population of California (~35 million), and while we CAN own guns, we cannot have AK's, HK91 or 93, FN-FAL, and a few other named guns.
And while we CAN have AR-15 and AR-10 variants, they are Restricted.
So any other semi that is not either Prohib or Rest has a HUGE advantage. Almost a captive audience.
At that point, they get interested. :)

The size of the California annual firearms market is about 4-5 times of the size of Canada based on ATF and CDN number. We have the same population but not the same gun ownership. The size of Canada firearms market is about the size of a small state in the US.

Believe it or not, California and Texas are the biggest firearms market in the US. They consume over a million guns a year. That is definitely not the size of Canada's market.

..and everybody says California is left wing liberal. Interesting info GT.

California is only left winged in the cities - the second you head out of the cities they are all conservatives. Unfortunately, the political power is concentrated in the cities.

Remember SHOT Show many years ago when they showed the new version with a flat top? They also hinted at an aluminum lower.

It won't happen.

Heh... It would probably take you less time to set up shop in the US than it would for the RCMP to give you an FRT.

I really think these things would sell by the thousands if they could keep the price to 800 to 1000 dollars.. I really hope to see the day they make it happen... Could these be produced on our side by one of our manufacturers .. I finally shot one of these a few weeks ago and they are wicked cool.. Really wish there was some new production

Well, that and the european competition starts at the mid 2000's and goes up from there...

They are a viable option with the aluminum lower and would sell like hotcakes here, but if the AWB passes, then it would hardly be worth their while.
