Tokarev TT-33 ordered from Kelly's Sporting Goods

I was hoping to get an opinion from the vets out there. I saw this thread and was extremely excited I have been looking at the TT33 for a while. Do you think this would be a viable option for a shooters first pistol ? its cost effective, its rugged, the ammo is cheap. I was just hoping to get some advice if it is a viable option I will be heading home tonight to put my order in. I am not a member of a range yet but will be I hope soon. Just my chance to pick something up and have it ready for when I do.

Great surplus pistols, especially in this condition. Just be aware, most indoor ranges aren't equipped for the surplus ammo containing steel, therefore you might have to buy the expensive factory ammo for it. Just find out where you are joining first. TT33 and cheap surplus ammo is a great deal, if you can use it at your range. Keep that in mind.

That shouldn't be a problem - I will be mostly likely joining Silverdale (which is all outdoor) at this point provided they are still taking applicants.

Just ordered one. Very nice condition.I have a 9mm chicom version that is very rough around the edges.LOL.Is the surplus ammo for these pistols corrosive?

Try shooting it like you would an old revolver, with your little finger rolled under the mag (under the grip on a revolver)... I shoot like this and it is amazingly accurate at 20 yards.

Well we changed our minds, instead of having a draw for someone to win a free Matching TT-33 including a matching mag and Tim Hortons gift card, we decided to draw 2 names!! :dancingbanana: Congratulations to K. Jensen of Ontario & R. Griffith of British Columbia !! :dancingbanana:

:dancingbanana:Ive been waiting for mine in BC (ordered dec 14 ) called Kelly's 5min ago to see if the BC CFO approved the transfer yet.
Line busy!! 1 min later phone rings and it's Kelly's calling to tell me I was drawn for a all matching tt33 and mag !!!!

Good for you R.G.!

Also a nice way for Kelly's to give back to the community.

Regards

Man I hope mine looks near as good as these ones!! I ordered 1 1955 all matching except mag and one 1954 all matching including mag!! Looking forward to getting them and showing mine off here on the blog!

Hopefully I can trade 2, 10oz silver bars with a little extra cash on top for 3 of these...

Would basically work out to about $180 each, given that I got the bars on the last silver pullback to $26 in December.

I hope more dealers start accepting gold and silver bullion as payment for guns, but Kelly certainly is first on my list :)

I have not talked to Kelly's - but the reason for selling is really the fact that I cannot stand something that is so complicated and apparently fragile.

Oh boy, complicated...
better don't get a Ruger 22, because to disassemble and get them back together will be rocket sience for a talented guy like you. :p

I don't think so… If you be careful enough it won't be complicated at all.
When I first time disassemble and re-assemble my Ruger 22 I only watch couple of video, and it took me total less than 5 minutes to disassemble and re-assemble them.

Then the Tok should be dead simple compared to the Ruger,,I have both and you can dis/reassemble the tok with your eyes closed! The Ruger mark iii, not so much! Ha Just thought of something. I wil soon have 3 very nice Tokarev's and still paid less for the three than I did for my 1 Mark iii comp! Still, both are nice!!
