I'm curious, if you had to choose one, which would it be.

Choose your caliber, 9mm, .45, .40 or 223, 308, etc.

I'm interested to know where everyone falls. Personally, I'd opt for a rifle caliber firearm for greater accuracy and power at distance.

I choose PCC vs SBR cause I consider these firearms relatively the same size and purpose, but with radical differences in terms of cartridge. Ie, if you were looking for some type of PDW

*That first option should read PCC*

Personally, I'd own both. However, if limited to just one and it's only a range toy, then PCC for me. Cheaper to run lots of rounds through - especially in 9mm.

Let's try to have one thread that doesn't break down into an argument about semantics.

For this purpose, I consider to PCC to mean pistol caliber carbine, which is typically a small carbine chambered for standard pistol ammo. An SBR being a short barreled rifle chambered for standard rifle ammo

I had a HK USC and I can't say I'm a big fan of pistol caliber carbines. It was fun but nothing more than an over sized hand gun.

I'm more of a rifle person.

Seems to be a trend. Partly posted this because lately I can't seem to get the idea of a 10.5" mk18 out of my head, once wolverine gets the uppers in I might have to pull the trigger

With all the JRC's, Thureons, Mare's Leg, M84 Skorpion, Beretta CX4's, Famaes, and numerous others I could mention sold to members of this site, the PCC seems to be well received.

Personally, I don't get the appeal of a pistol-caliber carbines. As far as I can tell, they don't offer much if any advantage over a .22 in terms of plinking fun, and they're pretty anemic in terms of range and power. They strike me as offering all the power of a pistol-caliber round with all the light weight, shortness, and handiness of a rifle.

Now an SBR? Huge muzzle flash, enormous kaboom? What's not to love?

Blaxsun will be jealous you started a poll without him..........:(

Since his name is now in bright pink, I don't think he is going to care much to be honest.

I own one of each and for some reason the pistol ammo fed carbine is just way too much fun to shoot. But since I am more practical with my firearm uses if I had to choose between the two, I would want a short barrelled rifle, all day every day.

Yes, the NR Pcc are the same length as a rifle. What is the point?
If I want NR, I would get vz58 or tavor.

What's the point? You don't get it? NR vs R? How could you not understand the appeal of a NR pseudo "Black Rifle"?

VZ58 or Tavor? Yep...that would be a tough choice for sure. lol

Obviously to some people NR is a big deal, but I live in the cities and NR is not a big deal breaker for me. There are NR sbr out there.
Why are we talking about NR and r anyways? Sbr is better than Pcc for me.

Vz58 is good for the cheap price and tavor is good for the compact size.

For a short PDW type concept, I'd probably prefer a carbine length barrel (14.5" ish) in a bullpup configuration. They way you squeeze more barrel length out of a very compact package.

Had a newbie couple of shooters out on the weekend, and I provided a potpourri of firearms to try, as they were in an 'acquisition' mode for new purchases. This included a Tavor, FN PS90, CX4,and a series of ARs with barrels from 7.5" to 18".
The young lady favored my new TD .45ACP for it's ease of use, and accuracy. She also liked the 7.5" AR in .223, but felt the 'blast' was too much to enjoy on a regular basis.
Personally, although the PCCs are fun to shoot, I always pack my 10.5" AR.....'nuff said!

I don't think I would like the ergos of a bullpup, butt I have only shot one a few times here and there
