1911 Grip Safety Not Working.

I bet 100 bucks it is an assembly error. It is tricky work juggling all the do-dads together while pushing up the mainspring and pinning it. I bet it is the leaf spring. It is either mis-installed, or bent out of configuration. Both are easy to do.

Youtube '1911 dis-assembly' there was tons of vids there to help me

good luck

I've seen a tonne of really good videos on YouTube, and followed them to the letter. I think I've disassembled and reassembled it about a dozen times now haha. The grip safety works sometimes, but it almost seems like the trigger bow is slipping off the grip safety where it is rounded towards the bottom edge. The leaf spring is engaging the safety quite well, the grip safety returns very smoothly and fully from the depressed position.

I'm not really sure what else I could be doing wrong.

UPDATE

It was not an assembly error. I just received a new extractor and grip safety that I ordered from Marstar. I popped the grip safety in, and it works just fine. I also noticed that the new grip safety did not have the rounded edge that my old grip safety had. The only downside is that the new grip safety does not have a beaver tail. That being said, I like the feel and the more traditional look of the classic grip safety.

Can I have that $100 now?
