Like svt1940 says, usually. Several of the recent Marstar imports have been lacking everything but the serial number. No triangle, no Chinese characters for "carbine". Possibly an indication of late 70's manufacture but I'm not 100% sure on that. May be a specific arsenal as well that just didn't stamp them.

you know what its bad, when you have to registred to the (rcmp canadian firearm program ) in quebec, and when they asked you, what else you got stamp beside your serial !! nothing, they answer we do not know this rifle,we need more info!!what the hell..

That's what my two have as well, both were bought from CanadaAmmo.

No arsenal marks, no Chinese characters, just the serial number. Mine are basically undateable, as not only are they lacking a Factory 26 marking, they have a smattering of parts on them that range from "early" to "late" manufacture. For example, they both have the Cyrillic "U" for the battle sight setting on the rear sight which indicates an "early" manufacture rifle, but many of the other parts indicate a "mid" or "late" production rifle.

Another Chinese SKS mystery. They both shoot great, guess that's what matters. :3
