So since were not able to visit the local gun store and check out the parts first hand. I was curious to know if anyone has used them and
there impressions of the quality and Fit&Finish. The consensus down south is that, they are the "go to" parts for a 1911 up grade.
Anyone using the 1911 "Bullet Proof" Ambi safety?

I am slowly replacing almost everything in my para with Wilson Combat.
I don't have the ambi safety, that hasn't failed on me yet, but I did pick up the slide locking lever, exteded style. Yes, its the bullet-proof one. It fit great, it has run well so far, although I haven't gotten a large amount of ammo downrange with it yet, it has been a huge improvement over the stock locking lever. Just for example, didn't matter what magazine, when empty my slide wouldn't lock to the rear. If I manually locked it to the rear, replaced the magazine with a fresh one and racked the slide, the locking lever wouldn't drop. This part solved that problem. It was just another POS para part. Take it for what its worth. Wilson Combat parts aren't terribly expensive either!

The finish is a nice even black. Something baked on like a duracoat or something of the like.

The ambi is one of the more expensive parts in there "Bullet Proof" line up. As a "lefty" it is the only real option.
I guess it's a case of "buy once, cry once" LOL. It's destined for the Vickers/Nighthawk, so with that investment, it's a drop in the bucket.
Thanks

Whenever I buy parts for my 1911's, I always go with Wilson Combat. Never had a problem with anything they sell. Their Wilson Combat 47D mags are the best IMO. Not sure about the black finish because I only bought stainless parts. Brownells is where I get all my WC parts from. The ambi safety, you'll probably need the ambi safety cutout on the right grip.

I've had the exact same problem with my Para and a Wilson Combat extended slide locking lever fixed it. I can't speak for other Wilson parts but the slide locking lever is worth it's weight in gold for me

I have the bullet proof ambi on a older Wilson CQB. I'm not sure about current production models but back when I bought mine they all had bulletproof parts. No problems with anything, very durable. The finish is nice and will stand up againt holstering into a leather holster (not sure about kydex) and general use. The finish will scratch though. It's definitely not Tenifer....

I have an extended Wilson Combat slide lock on my Para as well, hehe. It's not one of their "bullet proof" parts, though. There are no extended bullet proof slide locks on Brownells that I can see. Looking at the reviews on Brownells, some guys had their extended lever snap off... Hopefully this won't be the case any time soon for us.

Where are you guys sourcing your Wilson Combat parts? I'd tried Brownells, had it all sorted and got an email the next day asking me to fill in a bunch of forms and wait 6-9 weeks. I can see how an extended mag or slide release or a magwell could allow the terrorists win and all, but I'm not waiting the better part of a third of a year unless I have no other options. Is there anyone in Canada who stocks the parts? I've checked my local gun shops (Calgary) and they all behave like it's practically unobtainable. The same goes for a special order on a firearm. Drives me insane.

Chances are you had over $100 worth of parts in your order. You're limited to $100. If you exceed that, you will have to do a bit of paperwork to get your parts exported to Canada.

The Wilson parts are top notch but keep in mind they have to be hand fitted by a competent 1911 smith. When I lived in Edmonton P&D Enterprises was an authorized Wilson dealer and had there 1911's and all ther parts, did you contact them.

I was able to source the part and my "go to smith" is Casey at Tac Ord, he's the Nighthawk warranty guy as well.
Thanks for the "heads up" I just contacted Nighthawk to get some more info on my Vickers/Nighthawk 1911.
