brass polish

Lyman Turbo Brite. Remember to run the tumbler before adding brass to mix the polish with the cob media. This takes 30 min or less. I break the big clumps apart manually before running it to speed up mixing.

A touch of Brasso works too. This also works to 're-charge' the cleaning power of used media. There's a lot of negative press about using Brasso on cases. I don't believe the hype. A little in moderation has always worked well for me.

To keep the dust down and the tumbler bowl cleaner, toss in a dryer sheet (cut into thirds). This works amazingly well. Try it and see!

Good luck - SD

Some people have used Nu-Finish, but I never had any luck with it. It dried out too quickly, maybe in the summer when the basement has more humidity.

Generally I just use Lyman Turbo Brite, but also have a bottle of Dillon polish.

Thanks. The only polish I have on hand is wicked lightning. Awesome stuff for polished rims

Will lymann turbo brite negatively effect silver? I'm to lazy to hand polish my chains so I just throw them in the corncob media with my brass for an hour then rinse and wipe over with a polish fiber cloth. Makes silver look new again

I use Nu-Finish as well, but I cut it about 75/25 with mineral spirits to thin it....doesn't dry out. Pour it in while the tumble is running, and put in a used, cut up dryer sheet as others have suggested

Generally, polishes like the Lyman, Dillon and Brasso, are a fine abrasive in a liquid/cream soap base. NuFinish is an abrasive in a wax base. Turtle wax, is, just wax, and needs the media to do the polishing, or an abrasive additive.
