I am looking at getting a boyds stock for my savage mark ii FV but i don't understand there site to know if that stock will fit my rifle. http://www.boydsgunstocks.com/produc...=9755&cat=1217 is the stock i am looking at. just looking to see if anyone can tell me if that will fit my rifle.

I am having the same problem picking a Boyds stock for my Mk11 TR, so I posted a question on a Savage forum asking if the SS Evolution stock would fit my rifle and got this very helpful reply:
"yes.... should work ABC means "all barrel channels" BBC is "Bull barrel Channel" and FBC is "factory barrel channel. That said I've had a problem with Boyds and their seemingly lack of understanding and bad descriptions of how their stocks are relieved for the barrel. Mostly you're met with silence when you tell 'em the description is wrong but "that said" the worst I've had to do is open up a Varmint stock that was supposed to have the varmint barrel channel already cut from factory sporter contour to varmint contour."

Unless they changed their in letting they were all made to fit the heavy barrel mkII/93
OP, the worst that will happen is you have to open the barrel channel out a bit. It certainly isn't rocket science and shouldn't stop you from ordering the stock you like. I put an older non-accutrigger Mk.II into one of their thumbhole stocks and had to remove a bit of wood around the safety as well. A little fitting is to be expected when putting your barrelled action into a new stock.

I just ordered a stock for my fv-sr right from savage canada. Candace was great to deal with and her price was decent for the brj stock. it is shipping in the morning complete including base plate all screws and trigger guard. I sure am looking forward to getting rid of that

Did they let you order the Boyd's tacticool stock?
I have dozens of Boyds stocks and have only had to do inletting on guns that I knew were old versions... eg. using a Savage "E" version stock on the older "Non-E" receiver gun... but even then it was minimal inletting for the receiver front and safety lever. Boyd's has a great product at a great price and they have been pretty good to the Canadian market, but they are HORRIBLE to talk to personally on the phone... they seriously need some customer service training.
They are still advertised as not exportable.

No i was wondering since savage uses a boyds stock on one of their rifles if you can order it direct from savage canada
Yes. You can order the Tacticool stock from Savage U.S. (don't know about Savage Canada, as the site just refers you to Savage US), no problem. Order a "replacement" stock for a MkII TR model (which is the MkII Boyd's Tacticool stock). That way you don't have to give your serial number, etc. You'll also need the TR trigger guard, bottom metal, and action screws (cheap, order them while you're on the phone ordering the stock). I found Savage's people to be helpful, knowledgeable, & courteous. Shipping via USPS was fast & reasonable.
For the OP - if you have a standard (tapered) barrel MkII FV, any of the barrel channels will fit your rifle. Since they're designed to be free-floating anyway, the slightly tapered barrel just leaves a very slightly larger gap than the bull barrel does.
