Shorten PAL Approval Times

Yippi yea I checked the mail yesterday and found nothing but adds I checked just now and taddah there it was finally. All look out I'm coming to get a SKS
All those who are still waiting just keep calling and be pleasant and compliment them, that's what I did
My application was received December10 appeared online Jan. 10 I called on the 11 did my interview and they called my references on the 16 appeared online the 16 as issued but the licence says issued on the 21 so it took 28 days not counting Christmas week.

Who does the interview for the pal? RCMP or the ontario CFO?
I find it kinda confusing, RCMP does the background checks, what does the CFO do?
Should I call the CFO next or just sit back and wait ?

Very confusing system, CFO stamps your test results, RCMP does all the application and interviews then they send everything off to the CFO for their approval, once you are given the green light it goes back to the RCMP and they print and mail it :)

CFO just has the final say, hence the reason why there is sooooo much backlog!

Hope it's soon for ya. If you haven't called maybe its worth a try. Say you wanted to make sure they have all the info. Than be polite thank them for their time. Like I said they said 3 weeks before CFO would even stamp it. It was done the next day.

I will probably call them again this week...fingers crossed.
 
I didn't realize that they sent this stuff back to the CFO... Is this even on PAL to RPAL upgrades.. We have to wait for the disgraceful CFO Wyatt to do something else... Then I buy my first handgun.. Wait for the approval then apply for an ATT and wait forthe same idiot to approve that

Dont forget its a 1.5 month wait time to transfer the firearm if its a person to person sale. This system really sucks
 
Hi, All. Newbie to the forum here. XPressPost shows my application having been received --and signed for-- last Wednesday, Jan. 23. Mine is a POL to R-PAL upgrade. Does anybody know if already having a license counts for anything in this process (i.e. phoning references, doing interviews, etc.)? Or, is it the same as a new application?
 
arrived registered mail dec 21 with sig required
called once a week starting after new years
online jan 17
in progess status change jan 23
called today did interview
notified my ref's to call will see how long it takes after they are done...

"your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. "

Called today for interview but I was told that my application has not been scanned.

What does that mean. Any help is appreciated.

They probably Scan and OCR (Optical Character Recognition) your paper application, so they're not shuffling physical paper around.
 
Hey guys, here's an update on mine:
Application arrived - Dec 21
Appeared online - Jan 17
Called in for my interview - Jan 22
References called in - Jan 23 & 24
Shows issued online - Jan 28

I can't believe it made it through the CFO so quick living in Ontario, 2 short weeks and I can go get my SKS :)

Normally give them about a week from when it shows up online, then you can start calling for interview along with your references, then sit back and wait a bit longer :)
 
They said essentially the same thing to me, but she elaborated and said that my picture needs to be scanned and attached to the application.
I offered to do an interview, but she said that since mine is just a PAL they weren't planning to do an interview with me or my references.
She suggested I call back at the end of this week to ensure that the picture scanned properly and was sent to the CFO in Ontario.
