hi.
i was just wondering if there is a company out there that makes a reproduction garand?
iv looked up and down but service rifles are few and far between and when they do show up there to expensive for my budget.

thanks

A reproduction Garand would cost about $3000-$4000... If someone were to start producing them...

You are much better off looking for a good deal on the EE, your local paper, local gun store, or other online Canadian gun forums.

Beside issue Garand, the only ones i think of are restored Garand from James River Armory but the are expensive too. Either ways, Garand are become very expensive up here....

Get a Polytech M14S/305 Rifle or a Norinco M305, it's an M14 Copy for like $450.00. Calibre .308. Looks just as cool as a Garand. How can you go wrong?

So it's not Private Ryans Rifle, but it's something cooler from Full Metal Jacket and the steamy jungles of Nam!

I hear ya, the Garands are over priced - supply and demand, I paid under $300 for mine. Another option is to import from the USA for a Garand.

There was another batch of receivers that floated from Italy to Denmark to Canada to Australia and then to the US. They were reworked as Lithgows somehow to get under the US importation laws. Not baddly done AFAIR from the tone of the forums about 8-10 yrs ago. The receiver is one thing, enough of all the right parts would be the deal breaker. Why for instance, did AIA in Australia end up making a new variant of the No.4? Because they could not guarantee enough good quality parts in reliable quantities to support the production lines.

im suprised norinco doesnt tool up and make one, i personally think i would buy an m-14 that took enbloc clips, just to shoot .308 and get the pling, but im not willing to pony up for a real garand

Unless they got access to the US market again, I doubt the Chinese would see the point in tooling up for the Garand...

Cheers
