M14 recivers

Lot's of good links on your site frank. Those wanting more solid info on usgi and commercial M14/M1A receivers will find links to lee emerson's (different) ongoing History and Development of the M14.
I've talked with people, well machinists, that wanted to mill out a receiver as a project and even with the PDF's and lots of skill/machines/tooling... There's way too many details of the finished receivers that can not be found in any pdf's
I can settle with what we have, but a canadian option would be cool... Sadly, Farrrr beyond my capabilities by a long shot

Yes, I fix Springfields also, AND... I won't tell anyone on this forum. :D ha ha ha ha They are all good and the choice is perfect for us and all our different price points. We are fortunate to live in a country that allows us this choice. Celebrate the diversity.

And YES, I do allow (ha ha ha) M1A and LRB rifles at my M14 clinics. So nice to fondle with my girlie-soft teacher hands. The downside of the Norc is that my soft hands often get cut on the sharp edges. ha ha ha ha ha

Maybe the Norc was made for the shooter with tough-guy hands. That ain't me! I'm just a wannabee tuff-guy. :D

And finally ManDown! said it right, " Git off yer azz and keep shooting that M14!" That's all that matters!

Cheers,
Barney

I was thinking the same thing, maybe because the Chinese m14's are made on the old US military tooling. Springfield may have been forced to design there own way to make receivers, deciding on casting them to save $$$ on the cost of forged tooling. I'm no expert so please correct me if I am wrong.

Norc m14s are not made on old US tooling. That tooling went to the Republic of China (aka Taiwan). The Peoples Republic of China (where Norinco hails from) reverse engineered their version of the rifle.

also.. how does Keller know that the Norinco employees are in fact "forced labour" ? .. Chinese people do have jobs too.. that they get paid for..

No, they're forced to work at the end of a taser baton and put in cages at night. They are fed gruel, primarily made of ground up chicken heads and fish guts. Their families get to visit them once a month, but that's on loading day so they all have to work those days.
The crooked sights, out of index barrels, junk sights, these all get made the day before visiting day. Quality is lower on these parts as the workers are to preoccupied with the next days visits.
I know all this to be true cuz I've never been to china and have never talked personally with a worker from china.... LOL
I love the internet some days

In canada, we are forced labour too.... If I don't work, I don't get paid...... Don't get paid, can't eat or play, so.... How is this not forced labour LOL

In the US, used (Chinese) Polytech M14S rifles go for $800.00 and up. Often you see asking prices well over $1200.00. Now these rifles are not new, they've been around since before they were banned in 1991. Our (new) M14/M305 Norico's are just a real bargain. If you don't like the rear sights, just replace them and you're still way under the price of any commercial M1A. Anyway, just sayin....:dancingbanana::dancingbanana:

Give me a break with that forced labour stuff!!
IMHO, that is the same BS argument that the Chinese forced labour is making Nike shoes for $1.50 while they sell for150 USD
You really have No clue about 3rd world economics. I was in. GCC where exats from Bangadesh were getting in a MONTH what UK expats were getting in a DAY. The Bengladeshisi fellows were making more than in their own country.

Be glad you are born in CANADA.

Why is it that this question always denigrates into vast and repetitive (seemingly tedious) technical arguments over which platform/bolt/reciever/barrel yadda..yadda..yadda is better? Why this yearning and competition to see which is best, brag/boast of having the best and a seeming denigration of those whom do not have the best? Then of course, there is the justifications - or bashing of the tired statements of union versus "forced" labour.

Who really fukk'n cares? I mean really - who cares, as it is not an issue to lose sleep over. As others have already stated - just shoot the things and be happy. To the bullet traveling merrily down the barrel, it really is not concerned whether is was chambered in one or the other platform.

Also, I really don't give a rats a$$ about what kind of labour force made the rifle either. It's all about price point. Me, myself and I will be the one whom decides in the end which is the better deal and how much I am prepared to pay for an M14 platform. For now, I am quite happy and content with the poorer finish of my Norky outfitted with some USGI parts - and in the end, that's really all that matters.

That post ^^^ deserves applause.
An m14 is an m14 and who gives a rats ass where it came from hehehe
The best ones get built on my bench anyways mruhahahah
And yes, I'm just playin around ;)
