I've been reading posts on here about long range .22s some of you guys have been shooting. I think I would like to get something like that for my wife to try shooting longer ranges with. She collects .22s and I am just getting into long range shooting myself so I think a rifle like that might be a really neat present for her(did I mention her birthday is coming up?).

I know nothing about these or how to set one up etc. What is available for match grade ammo for them? What should I look for in a rifle for her? Same features as a larger caliber? I'm thinking about giving her my elite tactical 5-15x40 and using that as an excuse to upgrade my optics;).

Are there any decent out of the box rigs available in .22?

Thanks in advance guys, this is kind of neat!

There are several target grade rifles available in 22lr, and many different target grade loads. If I was in the market for a target 22lr, I would start by looking at Anschutz. Cooper also makes some very accurate rifles, and there is a good assortment of used Sako, and Brno target rifles to be found. In the lower price range, Savage is probably the most common choice.

Thank you guys. She's very excited about giving this a go. The Savage MkII is a very nice looking rifle. I showed her the Cooper M57 that Profit has in that wine color and she nearly drooled. I guess I better start saving!

And once you purchase the first Cooper, you will end up purchasing more.

Check out the Savage MKII TRR-SR in 22LR. Very accurate firearm.

i also have one of these, and yes very accurate for what it is, iv taken mine out to 400yds, on a 16" plate with a very high hit %, considering my scope was toped out, and i was holding past the mildots and well into the stadia of the x-hairs, with a proper scope set up for it, id guess 85+% hit ratio would be very achievable with good wind reading
