Well guys was lucky enough last weekend to have my grandmother give me her fathers original K31 service rifle :D I already had one in the safe but this one holds a special place in my heart for sure. Haven't shot either yet but now that I have a die set and all the components I'll hopefully be hitting the range this weekend. Will try a few shots with my great-grandfathers rifle but it will more or less be a safe queen so to speak :D

Anyways here's some pics

Hockey stick thing is to clean the chamber I think. That's awesome that you got your great grandfathers rifle, but wouldn't he rather you shoot the gun and have fun I know I would if I were you.

I noticed that Canada Ammo has some SP 7.5 Swiss in stock in case you'd like to shoot them sooner (and get extra brass for reloading).

Enjoy your new acquisitions. They are wonderful rifles to shoot.

Well wont say anything about the Swede comment as the man probably feels foolish enough already.

Bead already have all the components and could have 100 rounds loaded before Can Am would even process my order.

Iamhell it is pretty cool. Love how bore snakes are almost marketed as a new way to clean firearms Laugh2

Nabs I've nothing against the Swedes and will someday be getting one of their very reputable Mauser rifles in 6.5x55.

Sometimes, when a soldier completed his service, he chose to keep his own personal rifle. And, sometimes but not always, these rifles were stamped with a "P" near the serial number to denote this personal ownership.

Personally, I would not open that box of ammuition and use it. While a soldier might have discharged his basic duty, he was still subject to call up in case of emergencies. Rifles AND AMMUNITION were kept at home along with uniform and kit, so Switzerland could mobilize most of it's Army within 24 hours. I would not be surprised if this box of ammo was part of his Mobilization ammunition.

As far as the accessories go, a nice addition. However, it is best to clean the bore of your rifle with a solid cleaning rod, rather than the cord pull through. The reason for this is that the cord must go through the barrel and when pulled, usually from the breech to the muzzle, the cord can wear on the crown of the rifling and your accuracy will suffer greatly. No one can hold a rifle in one hand and pull the cord through absolutely straight, not touching the rifling.
