so if I had a barrel made up for a 700 could I go super short as long as its 26 OAL?

Seeing that there's a total lack of information comming from Mossberg or any of its distributors, you're about as much in the dark as anyone else is and making your own assumptions as you see fit. Not once have I speculated on the reasons why it wasn't available, I just asked why it wasn't. Your assumptions might be valid, or not. I guess we'll never know.

Perhaps, you might not have noticed but those same ITAR regs you've quoted as being tightened are now loosening. Maybe you were not aware that .50BMG ammo, reloading components, and firearms are now flowing to Canada from the US. You might have missed the fact that AR's are now being imported to Canada with flash suppressors and 5.56mm chambered barrels.

By the way, when's your long awaited 180B ever going to come to pass? Laugh2

Yes, I made a few assumptions, but I've worked with North Sylva enough to make a few reasonable speculations as to why it's not available. Plus, NS actually answered your question, but based on your continued comments, that wasn't enough for you.

I have noticed that ITAR regs have been loosened recently, but they are still tighter than they were 11 years ago. Also, sporting ammunition has always been relatively easy to export from the U.S., compared to other items with military features.

Long awaited AR180b ever going to come to pass? Do you even English? But if you mean the one I had a few years ago, I sold it, then bought a Swiss Arms.

What are you talking about? My continued comments after NS's? I apologized for my misunderstanding and said nothing more about it in regards to them. Prove me wrong.

Oh, and by the way, as far as a time line goes, the use of "policy" to make the import of firearms more difficult certainly pre-dates 911. It's been an up and down yo-yo for over 20 years. More downs then ups for the most part. I would agree that post 911 things did progressively get tougher for the firearms industry here in Canada.

"Do you even English?" That's some funny shiz right there. Thanks, for the chuckle.

The patrol model in 300 Blackout would be a nice little package.

The entire MVP line-up would go over well here. I'd certainly would love to have both a 5.56mm and .300 Blackout in this rifle. Apparently Davidson's in the US is listing a .300 Blackout in the patrol model but no one at Mossberg's customer service seems to know about it or wants to find out, according to one account I've read.

*** NEWSFLASH***

It's been announced that Mossberg will be releasing a 7.62x51mm MVP in late 2013 or early 2014. Certainly competition for the Ruger Gunsite.

Unless I've totally got the wrong guy, he's been saying for years he has aspirations of bringing this long dead rifle back to the Canadian marketplace with thoughts of manufacturing his own.

Thought that was armedsask...if you're gonna chuck insults better make sure you have the right guy.

You continued hounding after why the MPV's are not here, and blaming them for not importing it. After they said that they were waiting on delivery from Mossberg, you posted this:

Ah...my most sincere apologies. I was wrong. And here all along I thought you were the numero uno go to company regarding Mossberg. My Bad. Oh, by the way, you might want to actually read your dealer forum from time to time. There's a thread there that's going on well over a year old on the MVP that could use some well deserved attention on your part. People who have posted there have asked repeatedly for your response or an update at the very latest.

I'd be very careful about who you lable as ignorant considering the neglect and indifference you've shown to others here on your very forum.

I understand that you're going for the sarcastic tough guy internet persona, but it really doesn't suit you.

I never said the policy didn't predate 911, just that post 911 things were progressively tightened up. You said that 11 years ago, you used to import sporting ammunition. I was just commenting on the difference in difficulty between exporting sporting ammunition from the U.S. over a decade ago, and exporting rifles with military features now.

As for the English comment, read this again:

when's your long awaited 180B ever going to come to pass?

Can you really say that sentence is well formed? It's virtually nonsensical.

Thought that was armedsask...if you're gonna chuck insults better make sure you have the right guy.

Yah, really, and it is Armedsask. He's actually made some great progress in his updating of the Ar180b design.

I see no point in continuing to reply to 2bad, since he is obviously confused and has no idea what he's talking about.

I apologized for being mistaken. I thought I owed them at least that. You're absolutely incorrect. After that post, I never once brought them up by name nor did I blame them for not importing it. Perhaps, your reading comprehension skills need improving as well considering that you're fond of making that insinuation of others?

Really? Well, I'm a fast learner. I'm sure you'd be a great teacher.

Is that the best you could come up with?

You're right. I got you both confused. I don't spend as much time on here as you do so I don't know all the CGN legends such as yourself. Even before this thread, I thought you were "that guy". Like I said, unless I've totally got the wrong guy. You missed that too apparently.

Thanks, for the entertainment tonight.

You don't get to claim you apologized, then go on being sarcastic/confrontational with them.

Please, try to at least be factual if you're going to go out of your way to slig shiz like you started (3) pages ago. Re-read the thread to totally grasp what I'm telling you. I apologized to NS and NEVER once mentioned their name again, nor did disparage them or any Mossberg importer in any way after that comment. This is the 3rd. time I've said this and apparently, you either don't get it or you wish to ignore the obvious.

The first lesson is to insult the right person, because insulting the wrong person makes you look really, really dumb.

Looking dumb? That's something we both are guilty of tonight, along with a few others I might add.

Racking up the post count tonight. Woot! Woot!

Re-read your "apology" post I quoted and tell my it doesn't come off as sarcastic and aggressive, especially considering your other posts in the thread.

No, I'm acting like an a$$hole (which I'm fine with), but you're the only one looking dumb.

I could care less what you think. Your opinion matters not. Not agressive in the least. Your posts on the other hand?

No, I'm acting like an a$$hole (which I'm fine with), but you're the only one looking dumb.

I must say, you're certainly pulling it off rather well. See, I just paid you a compliment. Consider it an olive branch.

...

Okay gentlemen, shows over. Relax and go get some rest. This thread is about a rifle, not who's being a #### even if the person is being a ####.

Now more on topic, Mossberg does make the MVP Predator which sports an 18.5" barrel. So a Patrol version for Canada shouldn't be hard to produce. Just slap a Predator action and barrel into a Patrol stock, add some iron sights, scope rail and it should be smooth as ice.

18.5" barrels are only a consideration for non-restricted semi-autos. Bolt actions, pump actions and break actions can have short barrels. Only consideration is whether overall length makes them restricted or not.
