Like the title says i need some reviews of the XCR 7.62 x39mm by the owners who have them , I'm considering buying one in March or April , i look on the web for some review but i find only thing for the first gen , if i buy one i will shoot cheap surplus corrosive ammo brass or steel case need to know if he will eat it or not , the major thing about the XCR is the legal 10 round mag which i want , i'm bored of the 5 round -_- of my cz858

i know the loctite joke :D

Thank for your help

I have a XCR "Revision H" newest model in 7.62x39 and it eats everything I feed it, I typically dont shoot corrosive in any of my guns as the cost of non corrosive is still pretty cheap but I have it handles it fine. I shoot mainly the non corrosive bulk Norinco that Canada Ammo sells and I run my gas system on setting 2. I have the .223 conversion kit aswell but I find I barely every use it, so much fun banging away with 7.62

Dont count out your 858 yet, 5 round mags are week after using 10 rounders, just get one of these :)

I love my XCR in 762X39, shoot it a lot. I don't clean mine religiously as I live in Sask, dry weather seems to be the difference from what I gather. As an experiment left the gun uncleaned for long periods of time with no issues, just use clp or whatever, no boiling water or such, NO PROBLEMS. Gotta love it!

The variable gas setting is a great feature for getting any kind of ammo to cycle correctly - you will love your 'commie' gun. Have fun!!!

No issue with corrosive ammo that a a quick change of the gas setting can't solve, strips down way faster than a CZ, so cleaning is fast and easy. I bought a conversion for my rifle as soon as it was made available in Canada, I love so much I bought one of the first Micro that was brought in by Wolverine Supplies.

What do you think of the micro?

I love my xcr, Only issue ive had is with surplus ammo, Shell run czech and chienese ammo on setting 3 sometimes 2, and i have had some crappy ammo thats keyholed at 25 yards.

But brass cased prvi runs like a champ on setting 1 and gives no issues at all. I just need to try other ammo (MFS) and see how she runs out of it. So far it doesnt care for chicom surplus.

Keyholed at 25 yards? Wow. That must be undersized bullets.

Anyway. I've run Chinese surplus out to 200 yards with excellent results. It runs on 1 on the gas setting.

Yeah id never seen any ammo do it before. However it was quite inconsistent with shell ejection, sometimes strong and on several occasions landing just a couple feet away from me.

My chicom is a batch from frontier. Painted cases, said to be non-corrosive and came in a spam can. Cannot say anything about the chicom copper washed cases.

Whats yours?

The only issue I had with my XCR was alot of hard extractions. I was using mostly czech surplus. After part way through the "break-in" process, she still wasn't working. I talked to an employee at Robarms and they told me it was likely an out of spec gas port. They got me in touch with Wolfgang Kuentzel (spelling?) at Wolverine to rectify the issue. After he bored out the gas port she ran flawlessly with anything I put through. I found it easy to clean and it didn't gum up as quickly as my CZ did with the same ammo. I regret selling it, but I enjoy building AR's now.....

I love my OD Green XCR in 7.62x39. I mainly shoot corrosive surplus in mine and no hiccups at all. I just added the ACOG last week. I changed the grip from that A2 style to a Magpul MOE+ and waiting on a VFG. The only thing I don't like is it a bit front heavy. That Fast stock is pretty good and solid.

Here is a pic.
