Is there a new RC K98k import?

Matching original k98 sell for north of $1500. Before the RC came the yugo refurbs from marstar the sold for between $300-450. When the Rc first came from tradex they sold for $325-450.
 
the price is high but if the condition of the rifles are good then maybe you have to buy just one whats a mauser collection without at least one RC K98
 
A local seller in my area brought in 2 crates.
My close friend went and inspected a bunch in the hopes of finding one to buy.

He said they were wall hangers. Most of the bores were completely shot. Some of the stock repairs looked like they were done by a grade 7 shop class pot smoker lolol

Buddy was charging well over $600. He had sold a few already, who knows, maybe those were the "good" ones of the bunch. I doubt it......

well i dont did an online order last night ma have to send an email and cancel in that case 700 is a lot of cash for a rifle in the condition that you describe.I ordered one from Alflatherys the info on the web page is very limited and the pic dont look to be that of a RC k98.If they look like the one shown then all is good
 
Honestly, I'll pass unless the sellers cannot at least post detailed photos and indicate what code you are getting - maybe even a bore condition statement per rifle. At that price, it's merited.

If P&S or Tradex post them, I'll go there. They are much more up-front on condition.
 
I personally thing it's a case of some retailers being quick to post them. When the other stocking dealers get off their duffs and supply starts to exceed demand, we will either see price drops (FF had some listed at $625, others at $680 - you can bet the unit cost they paid was something like $500 each regardless of condition), or you will see dealers posting better ads with mfgr codes and reasonable descriptions.

If not, I'm happy to pass on this import and wait for the EE ads with actual descriptions of the guns and discounted prices in a temporarily flooded market.
 
I bought an Israeli K98 a few months ago with lots of detail for $465 shipped from a none sponsor dealer. Lots of unpeened dirty birds in VG condition. After an inspection I found the bolt too badly pitted underneath and the bore only good, but not VG as claimed. I could not accept that bolt even though it matched the receiver. It went back to the dealer despite it being VG everywhere else.
Like you, if I intend to collect a K98 I want details and 3 day inspection. I've been burned with good bore claims only to find it in poor condition.
I guess that's why I also prefer TradeEx, P&S and Weimajack. They stand behind their details and refunds.
 
I've inspected probably 17 of the new import of RC k98's. The ones i saw were in fair condition at best. Not one bore was clean, all were dark after a boresnake or two, and most had pitting.

I am an impulse buyer, and had cash in my mitts, and i had to walk away. (And i really wanted one!)

There were a few sauers (ce/147) some byf, couple duv's, one ar (the nicest example i saw internally and externally of the batch i inspected) some 243's, 42's.

To summarise: bores were fair to poor, stocks ranged from fair to poor, markings were intact, RC "x" stamp visible on all except one or two. I am by no means a conisseur of k98's, but definately not worth the premium this batch is going for. Seems to me that this batch costs what it does due only to supply and demand, the cost is NOT proportional to what is being offered. They look to be shootable pieces of history, and nothing more. Some of them may be good shooters, but they are not light refurbs, some of them show some fairly gnarly repairs

630$-700$ buys a lot of gun, you could by 2 yugo's from marstar for the same price and have really nice guns that have not been fu(ked hard and put away wet.

My .02 cents.
 
I need to find a 40 and a 45 date to complete my war years, I'd be happy with a couple decent Russian captures. I think I'll wait to see if Jean or Trade ex get them in, their descriptions are dead on.

Personally I do not see the appeal of a K98. To me it's a 150-200 dollar milsurp. However, I can see how someone who are into these milsurps would go crazy over these. This is likely to be the last "Real" K98s that will come into this country. Get them while you can.
