Is there a new RC K98k import?

Three years ago when I bought two RC's for $350 each, the "CGN Experts" were telling people that they weren't "collectable", and would not increase in value. Mine have excellent bores as did most of that batch. Many people passed based on the "expert" advice, and now some would be willing to pay double that.

It would be amusing to revive some of those threads.

there are still lots of surplus k98 . all it would take is a dealer with money to bring them in. the problem is they all want to pay little and sell high. and no one in Canada wants to spend the money.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying this batch of RC K98's is not collectible, but simply that i do not believe any semi-modern milsurp in the condition i witnessed is worth $629+ tax.

I suppose, to a collector, there could be a special code and date buried somewhere in those RC's that is worth $1500....

From my perspective, primarily from a shooters standpoint, and knowing very little about the collectors side, they were ugly guns.

Just came back from the Orangeville gun show with my "new" Swedish M 38 short rifle.
The rifle is in excellent condition with pristine bore, all matching etc...
The cost?
$300.00
That's less than half the price of the K98s from that latest batch.

These beat up K 98s might be worth $700 for some collectors, but for me they are not worth the money at all.
As long as there are deals like the Swedish Mausers, or brandnew Brazilian and Argentinian Mausers for $1000 with matching bayonet, I will not be tempted to get a beat up K98.

BTW the 8mm cartridge is about the least accurate cartridge of all the Mauser rifle chamberings.

For those that don't know, a RC K98 only has the barrel and receiver that match, every other part is mismatched courtesy of Ivan.
Cleaning rods and Triggerguard screws are absent.
These are entry level guns and shooters.
The stock is heavily belt sanded on one side where the serial number is stamped.
They arn't in the same state or condition as they left the factory prior to 1945.
If you like mismatched, force matched, russian shellac, reblued russian dip, want a shooter, like electropencil and billboard import marks, these are for you.

I won't be buying these at the moment as I picked up a couple all matching K98's for under $500 each!

My momma told me, ya better shop around...

Gord...they will be gone before the morning. K98K mausers are like crack to some collectors. Don't ask me why because I certainly don't know. ;)

Maybe RC's will out price all matching K98's!!! LMAO! It did in my case of the <$500 all matching K98's I mentioned earlier by a factor of 2 to 1.

Maybe I can expect more $99.00 all matching K98's to drop from the sky and into my lap!!! It's a Slippery Slope in Mauser Land.

I have to practice those dance moves some more!

As much as people want K98s, they should refrain. There's no sense in these prices.
$600ish on the EE is better, as you can neogiate for shipping, etc.

Can anyome comment on these rifles being import marked???

What a rip off, I can go to my local gun shows and pick mauser k98k's up for under 500$ and I get to choose if it worth it or not. Those are in rough condition will little description , I would never buy and gun with out boar condition period. And last I would never pay more than 350 on those rough RC's

I didnt see any import marks.... Just electro pencil serial numbers and the x on the receiver from the russians

It's not what they are worth, it's what they cost. You can say that about any milsurp these days. They still sell though.

Get them while they are Hot!
