Need suggestions for scoping a new semi-auto .50BMG.

There I fixed it for you.
Frankly I prefer a NF to the SB on a 50, and I OWN 5, 50BMG rifles personally. I will grant you that the optical clarity of SB is slightly better than NF HOWEVER the eye relief is better with the NF and THAT is important on a 50 believe me. I KNOW! Getting scoped with a 50 is something 1 NEVER forgets.
I also drive an X5 and have had many Porches caught in my air intake.

Lol, fair enough!

The eye relief is a valid point. I am arguing clarity though, which IS a big step up on the SB. Mind you, NF is still very good. In fact, if all you could get was a NF and you had never used a SB, you would think they were the cats ass. I'll never forget the first time I shot 1000 yds with my friend's SB - I had a NF on my rifle and was like "BAM, this thing is the sh!t" Well, lets just say that that after shooting that day with his 5-25x56 PMII P4F, I went straight home and sold my NF.

And Rick, I hope your X5 is a diesel, otherwise we have no argument with this whole BMW vs Porsche thing... Touareg V10 TDi takes them all.

How about anyone with a .50 and experience shooting one past 500m pipe up? I see a few of you fall into that category.

I couldn't agree more with Tomochan. Not only is clarity important, handling the recoil and internal adjustments is a major factor with a .50BMG. S&B may be a bit clearer although some will dispute that, I think the NF is a more rugged scope, having used both. I also have shot a Tac 50 extensively with a Leupold Mark 4 scope and there were no issues. As good as a scope the S&B is, they only have a 2 yr warranty which is absurd considering the price and there have been reports of recent qc issues. Just my opinion but do have some personal experience to base those opinions on.
 
I would go with a March 6-60, 10cm eye relief 60 moa elevation crystal clear, then the Hensoldt 6-24x72, a little more eye relief than the march and a bit more elevation I believe both are 34mm tubes. the March has a 56 bell henni has a 72mm bell,

those are the only two I would look at other than the staples being NF and S&B. I believe NF will be the most durable of the bunch for what you are doing. ALL great scopes.
 
I would personally go USO with a close second to Premier Reticles but hey what do I know, apparently only those owning 50 BMGs are the only ones shooting past 500m.:rolleyes:

Yeah, basically, you were "the few" that I felt should comment. I have my feelings on the subject too, but owning no 50, and never even shooting one, I felt I'm a less than stellar advice source. From the sound of it, the NF scopes seem to do a good job, 3000 yards is a long shot! RUGGED would be my main consideration.
