Black Powder Shotshells in Canada?

its a load your own thing here but its not hard

empty hulls are needed so is primers,BP,nitro card wads, fiber wads, over shot cards, lead shot(any size you want), and depending what you want to shoot them in you may or may not have to roll crimp them as for tools a nail to dprime the hulls, a wood dowel to fit into your hull to seat wads and when seating nitro cards compressing the powder a bit and glue or a roll crimping tool and a BP measure

prime you shell, measure your powder(common load for BP 12ga is around 75gr by volume and the same volume of shot). put your nitro card in the hull seat it with the dowel and compress the powder a bit then take a fiber wad lubed with a BP lube(depending on where your shot level is in the hull you may need to use more then one to get the shot where it needs to be) seat that on top of the nitro card. then measure your shot you BP measure can be used for this too on the same setting as your powder was it makes a square load then a over shot card roll crimped or glued in place

Thanks for the feedback but you would think someone would import a few cases of BP shotshells. There is a small market judging by the amount of damascus barrelled 12 gauge shotguns you see around.

You have just defined the problem. IT IS A SMALL MARKET. The expenses in importing a few cases of BP shotgun shells does not justify the return that a Dealer would make on them.

As ANTIQUEGUY has pointed out, it is simple enough to load your own BP shotshells. You can still find paper hulls, especially at gun shows or some of the importers who bring in Russian, Polish or other European shotshells. Plastic hulls can be used if necessary. Fibre Base wads and Filler wads are available, and even some of the slightly larger in diameter wads for loading BP muzzle loaders. LEE still makes a 12 Guage LEE LOADER for about $35. Even better, you can buy Brass 12 guage shotgun cases for loading BP shotshells and these will last a long time if you do not crimp the mouth of the case in slightly. A top wad can be punched out of old cereal boxes, and a few drops of glue will hold it in place.
.

And brass shotshells aren't restricted for export under ITAR (rifle/pistol brass require an export permit regardless of quantity), so if you can't source them in Canada you can get them easily from the US (not sure if there is a $100 limit but I would expect so)

lee dose not make the lee loader in 12ga you you dont need any sort of loader anyway

last time i check too federal still made paper hulls. but hull type dose not really matter much with BP even the walmart winchester bulk stuff could be used atleast once with BP

I just called The Shooters Choice and they carry them. toll free 1-866-257-7270

Shooter's Choice (in Waterloo) price for brass 12 ga shotshells is disgusting...If you really want quality brass shotshells (made by magtech), then buy from Buffalo Arms .....I have never had a problem shipping from them and the price is about $1 per shotshell, far better then Shooters Choice....They are 2 1/2" shells and use large pistol primers.....
