so yesterday i got my tumbler out tossed in 5 lbs of SS media 2.5-3 glasses of water a couple squirts of dish soap tossed in about 35-40 308 shells put cover on turned on and walked away .. they were in the tumbler for better part of 6 hours came out afterwards the bodies on them are great the necks are still dirty and the inside of the cases looks like they weren't even touched can somebody tell me how i managed to screw up?... i did not put any polishing compound in but the insides should still of got clean right?

you need 3.78L of water. I use 1 tbsp of dawn and a 9mm case of lemi shine and tumble for 2-3hrs and never have a dirty case.

The tumbler should be about 1-2" from the top full of water

SS media you need a tumbler type.
You can keep the existing polisher to clean brass after you do the first SS tumbling and get's the worse crap out.

There are noob questions and there are "I don't want to do ANY research, tell me what to do like I'm an 8 year old".

Exactly how much research did you do to end up with SS media for a vibratory cleaner? Look up any kits.

lol thanks for being nice to a noob....

anyways for the one that are being helpfull... should i continue useing stainless steel media but without the water or should i just switch it up for crushed walnut media

Switch to walnut or corn cob media. I am guessing that tumbling dry SS pins in a vibratory tumbler will actually erode the plastic bowl. The rotary tumblers like Thumler & RCBS have a heavy rubber lining to prevent this but the vibratory models just have hard plastic bowls.

you need to swtch to a lighter media. in your set up all the steel drops to the bottom. your brass cases polished each other while the heavier steel just rattled around down below. you need media that is lighter than brasss and will mix with the brass or if you stick with steel media you need a machine that rolls it over rather than just rotate it or shake it

Thumblers Tumbler "b" is great but if you want a better price for the volumes of cases you are talking about , a A-R12 will be more that you need and $60.00 cheaper than the "B"

My A-R12 works like a charm .. And no future barrel cover problems associated with the "B"

Exactly how much research have you done on being nice to people. If you do not want to help people then that is your right. Some times it is better to keeps ones mouth shut and be thought a fool then to open it and remove all doubt.
