Sorry to hear that.

I understand your frustration.

First, the suomi is already a very lousy choice of firearm.
Second, you get stiffed by the (thief) dealer.

Hope you paid with CC.
Give your credit card provider a call and dispute the charges.

You should have stayed with your "bolt action milsurp", at least that's what I do, and I was never dissapointed.

I still can't believe a new gun could be sold with a "loose barrel" or "welds that break". The worst part is from the dozens of hours of research I've done on the suomi all I've really found is thread after thread of broken gun pics and people very dissatisfied with the product.
The worst part is there's still lots of Canadian dealers that are selling these turds! Oh well buyer beware I guess!

Beware of the fine print.
I think stores that want to charge you 15% to 20% if you return a firearm is ridiculous.
If the stores do not stand 100% behind their products, I go elsewhere.
Excuses about paper work are nonsense, it costs to run a business, and returns should be factored in.
Restaurants that add a 15% tip on my bill do not get return business. I tip or not depending upon quality of service
If you order by mail you are already paying $50.00 plus just to look at a weapon so a restocking fee is bull and I take my business elsewhere and there are a lot of good stores.

It's somewhat shocking how manufacturers/distributors don't give a $hit how problematic/dangerous/flawed their products are until something blows up...
I've harassed Remington about the thickness their 209 primers(pinhole punctures occurring too often) and it wasn't until I had one damage my gun that they addressed the issue.

If I where in the OP's situation, I'd fire the gun(remotely with a string) until an out of battery round damages the gun and claim ignorance.
It seems like the only way to get companies to notice these days...

thats horrible! i had a henry survival rifle which the charging handle fell out! contacted henry and they shipped me one right away, i think stores should stand behind the products they sell, not sure if you can contact the BBB, maybe raz a few feathers,

Gee, let me guess, the dealer is Wanstalls. I would have expected more from them. Regardless of warranty policy, a defective product out of the box, should be handled by the dealer, to the satisfaction of the consumer. Hiding behind a warranty policy on an unfired gun is cowardly, and bad for business. The meager profit they made on that gun is not the issue, the profit from future purchases that they have lost is much greater. Sometimes you have to look at the big picture. :(

On a somewhat related topic, Marstar is pretty good about standing behind their products, I've had them ship replacement parts without even needing proof of failure of the original part.
Question for the OP...is the suomi along the lines of a sten quality wise? Stamped, rolled and welded sheet metal?
I'm assuming that they are , but I could be wrong.

pay with credit card, contact credit card, have credit card cancel payment due to dispute, return rifle via canada post signature required, forward copy to credit card, done.

No! The original Suomi's receiver was made from a substantial milled steel forging. The TNW receiver seems very beefy as well but you can bet it's not forged. You need to have eaten your Wheaty's when lugging a Suomi around. The Canadian non restricteds are even heavier with the longer 18.5 inch barrel. Even the barrel shroud is a beefy heavy piece.

It's a shame that the QC is so crappy as it is kind of a unique gun for the Canadian market.

Suomi warranty is making me mad, very angry, very, very angry!!!

Sesame Street from 1970!!!!! LOL

Seems like you have to have $700 bucks to throw away, fire it until something breaks, and then send it to a skilled welder to get properly repaired. They should offer you a $400 buck discount in light of the need to re-weld important structural parts. :p

If I had $ to burn, I would probably get a Thureon Defence carbine, JRC or a Keltec Sub 2000 instead.

My buddy bought a kel tec sub 2000. I put 100 rounds through it one day. That gun is a lot of money for what it is!!! Not my cup of tea but to each their own I guess!

^ I am seriously looking at getting one when my situation is more amenable to such an indulgence - I have plans for the Sub 2000. :Wrings hands: :maniacal laughter:

I think the Sub 2000 is at the lower $ end of 9mm carbines that are acceptable.

I really wanted to like the sub2000 but I was really unimpressed after shooting it. The front sight was just terrible, and adjusting involves force which translates into a crap shoot as to weather you'll get it where it needs to be. There's also no adjustment for windage, so if it's not straight on the barrel your hooped. also if you have long hair be very careful as to not get your hair cought in the charging handle!!!
Now that I've tried one I'd look else where for a pistol caliber carbine. I'd spend an extra $100 and get another 9mm carbine
