What to sell what to sell?

I've got some rifles that never see the light of day any more.

A US Enfield 30-06 sportered by BSA, the only gun I ever bought new, a 243 Remington 700, my father's Winchester Model 43 .22 Hornet, some Winchester 94 30-30 rifles, a Sears Model 45 30-30, a Swede 96, a Mosin Nagant, the first rifle I ever owned, a Ross M-10 303, the list goes on.

I want to (gasp!) get a crossbow.

I'm going to keep my 7x57, 270 and 300 Winchester magnum. They are all I really need for hunting. I don't do coyotes and I don't do grizzlies.

There are shotguns too, but the only one I really never use is the Ithaca 20 gauge pump..

What to get rid of? Trouble is I get sentimentally attached to all of them.

Sell everything but your dad's rifle, one Model 94 and whatever you hunt with. You'll have plenty for the crossbow and some left over to make a nice impulse buy later on.

Cant help you on what to sell as I am doing something similar. To help me make my choice on what to keep I laid them all on the floor and picked the ones Im most drawn to. The ones I always grab for. The rest gonna go bye bye

Why not sell one of your Winchester 94's? If you've got a few of them and you never use them anyway...

If I were you I would definitely hold onto your dad's rifle and your first rifle for sentimental purposes.

I'd sell the 94s. There are always plenty of those around. Can't replace your father's rifle or your first rifle though that's for sure.

i agree you may never get Dad's or your first back. you may regret it. as i look at the picture of my own profile, i see Dad with his rifle. He passed away this past fall in a farm accident. His will stay with me or my brother , who is also inthe photo

I'm kinda in the same boat.
Lots of spare kit that will never see the field again...
But I don't need the cash and have all the toys (+ some) that I want.
Truth told I think I'm just too lazy to clear the spares out.
I'd suggest to keep the sentimentals, you simply can't replace them.

Couldn't agree more.Several years ago I went through the process of thinning out my herd on a large scale due to various circumstances.That was difficult enough but there was no way I was gonna sell off some of them that had family "provenance" so to speak.Hell,I still have my very own first gun that I received as a Christmas present,an anemic made in Czechoslovakia .177 pellet gun that isn't worth bugger all to someone else but has endless fond memories to me.Ditto for some others too that once belonged to my father and grandfather.It's a tough process no doubt about it.Unless you really have to I wouldn't part with any of them,save up longer if at all possible.

Advice from who and on what? Strangers on the net that haven't seen your guns and don't know you? All I can say is that you'll regret selling your dad's 22 Hornet, that would be a stupid move.
With my guns, if they have sentimental value and/or they get frequent use, they don't get sold. Only the ones I get bored with go to the EE.
