This is my first svt 40 , recieved it from wanstall. the refurbish mark DOESN'T go through the numbers. the numbers look the same, Now I could be mistaken but i have read in other forms people have a same date on theirs (izhesvk).
Now before someone says that it was altered , why would it there is no money in this.

A little off topic but I am torn which rifle i should shoot a 1940 izhesvk, or the 1944 izhesvk . The 1940 has a 4 port muzzle brake on it ( i think not orginal) and the 1944 has a four port, markings are all correct but the stock ( A than a Star)

Thank you everyone for your help in collecting svt 40's

It's not that clear but it looks like 1944r which is weird since I though they stopped in 42 to build mosins instead or am I wrong?
Very interesting

mabye the part was made for it in 44?

or mabye it was refurbed in 44 and remarked?

or mabye the russians have been lying and they where stockpiling them along with the sks's.

Izhevsk didn't stopped to make SVT in 1942, they continued to make SVT but at much slower rate, giving priority to built Mosin.

Mine has the groves on the side. Thanks I will stop shooting that one. Now i have to buy one to shoot ( 4 safe queens now lol)

Shoot it sparingly and keep it clean, no harm no foul. Should be a great shooter. If it was a minty Kovrov or 1945 production I'd keep it locked up.

I have one that I rarely shoot because I think its super pretty and don't want to risk damaging it at the range from dropping, etc. The other 2 get used whenever I know I'll have time to clean them afterwards.

So which one would you shoot than my 44 izhevsk ,40 izhevsk , 41 kovrov or 41 Tula sniper? The 40 is the only one not correct ( 4 port not the 6 port. What would be the values of them? 44 and 40 has the avt stock . The other two have correct stocks on them and the receivers match. Just a curious in case someone offers me $$ for them.
I shoot a lot (200 rounds Saturday)
Another quick question is there any reactments in Canada. I from bc.

I'd pay a premium for a 1945, would've paid slightly more for my '44 (but didn't have to since it was a shop that listed one for sale) and after that, I'd say a 1940 Kovrov would get a premium. '41 Kovrov's are more common - I've since more then half a dozen in the last few months. My '44 was the second one I saw for sale in about two years (first one I missed out on). I'd say shoot them all, unless you're planning on selling them. I still shoot my SVT-38 even though people recommend that it should just be a safe queen - I just clean the hell out of her afterwards and she only goes out about once a year in the summer anyway

Cheers!
